Maybe they could all come work here in the red states where hospitals are filling up with the unvaccinated.
...he went up late, and I was already up there.

HOWEVER, this study: https://www.sciencedirect.com/scienc...66334121000684 shows the claims are false (and gives all the background information), if your DIL has a serious concern about sterility/infertility and has any questions what so ever about this study (limitations, data interpretation, broken down into simple terms) feel free to shoot me a message, and I'm happy to answer any she may have.

For the first paragraph, I think a lot of that is exactly what we're seeing in the general population. A lot of people don't see the realities of COVID when it's bad, citing statistics, people's general symptoms, etc. and that is "their reality" so to speak. However, health care providers are walking through ICUs where all the ventilators are being used up, getting pretty damn good at intubations, and watching oxygen sats drop like flies, etc. Things we see aren't what the public sees, and even if we "show the realities" it's written off as a conspiracy, an extrapolated data point, etc. I could tell you horror stories in any patient population right now, but that won't change anything until you can have a visual, emotional, physical, etc. conceptualization of what it's doing. I'm ALWAYS happy to explain all the facts behind the vaccine, the level of protection it gives (it's basic immunology), how it gives protection, how it works, what risks/benefits it has to anybody that's curious about it. I'm happy to do that about any condition or diagnosis, or medical thing, that's my favorite part of the job, being able to communicate this complex language and pathophysiology into simple terms to A. educate patients, but more importantly B. ease concerns and build rapport.
UPDATE: The “leader sister” now has a friend who is apparently brain dead in an Orlando hospital. The leader sister has her shots started, and the DIL starts tomorrow with her first shot. LOVE the DIL but not fond of the whole follower mentality. Glad they were able to adapt. Love her even more for that ability to pivot in the face of the obvious.

Not sure how animal spillover is a conspiracy. Unless you believe these animals are devious enough to plot this. I think they’re too cute for that.

Yes, data still matters, but no doubt, the mask nazis will deny reality once again:

I'm in Orlando right now, it's a cluster-fuck with COVID patients, went to the ED today for a consult and running max capacity with people being seen in portable beds in the hallways as an "observation" type of unit, I think it's something along the lines of 118/162 beds in the hospital are COVID positive, all elective surgeries (which unfortunately includes procedures like mastectomies for breast cancer) are on hold, they're floating the surgical/anesthesia support staff to different areas to help out any way they can, and there's been some absolute horror stories I've heard in passing, so honestly not surprised, but I do give condolences, it's tough to stomach some of this stuff.

Gotta say, I do give people credit when they are able to change their opinion on something they once held, I don't enjoy when it's something serious like what happened above, but I think it kind of plays into my point about it not setting in until it's real to your situation. Glad to hear the family members decided to go through with the vaccination and that they find the benefits outweigh the risk in their situations.

Yep. Just like when the media is talking about the unvaccinated, they somehow work in that they’re usually Trump supporters, even though blacks and Hispanics are statistically the least vaccinated per the last numbers I saw.
