I was implying that it was a right wing smear of Democrats as a whole...and it was successful in making a lot of Republicans think that it was an actual Democratic position, or something the party as a whole was behind.
Of course it wasn't, but many Republicans bought into the narrative. Hopefully not all of them.
Edit: just as MTG suggesting that the FBI should be defunded is not something I would think most Republicans support....he went up late, and I was already up there.

It was a pretty widespread idea among Democrats. Almost universal among progressives.
If Cori Bush was the only Democrat calling for it, I'd agree it was similar to MTG calling to defund the FBI. I think those two are a pretty good comp on opposite ends of the spectrum.

I'm telling you..the man lives in an alternate universe. Zero..I mean zero ability to see any warts on the party he worships. Defund the Police actually happened, Paul...and the consequences are playing out on the news every night. Defund the FBI was a tweet by a loon. You trying to compare the two is completely ridiculous and yet you keep doubling down. Very DJT of you. Please try to connect the dots here.

From the article that you just linked to:
Local lawmakers largely ignored activists’ pleas, and police spending has tripled over the last 40 years, helping to make the US a world leader in incarceration and police killings. Even as cities have faced financial shortfalls, local governments consistently spent an increasing share of their general funds on police (despite repeated research showing that increasing police funding does not correlate to reduced crime)....he went up late, and I was already up there.

"Defund the Police" is not smart politically for these progressives, regardless of what they really think.
However, the term "Anti-Law Enforcement" is far more easy to label these far left extremists, because it's on full display in nearly every major city. It's really just the BLM agenda being implemented. Progressive DAs and Judges are actively in sync with drastically softening Criminal Sentencing guidelines or just simply refusing to prosecute. That along with these ridiculous No Bond policies, things have become flat out dangerous and 100% responsible for the out of control crime in these cities.
Now here is how the "Defund Police" becomes reality, in a roundabout way. It is a by product of the above. Big City cops are fed up with this crap and are leaving in steadily increasing numbers, whether that be seeking out positions in the suburbs, retiring or just changing careers altogether. The cops that do stay are basically just picking up a paycheck, because in many cases they fear the smothering scrutiny involved in engaging with criminals.
Also, did you know that shoplifting is legal? This is shear madness folks.Last edited by Xuperman; 09-09-2022 at 09:46 AM.

BYU has unbanned the fan wrongly accused of heckling a black Dook volleyballer.
No word yet on whether Dawn Staley will change her mind and risk taking her young black players from the comfort of South Carolina to potentially face racism.

'Defund the Police' is a bad enough branded message that it seems like a spin from Frank Luntz ie 'Estate Tax' v. 'Death Tax', but I think it is from the Civil Rights Era.
The public has strongly gone the other way on the topic and wants more spending.
"We need more policemen, not fewer policemen." - Joe Biden, source Fox News Biden touts support for law enforcement in fiery speech, glosses over Democrats who wanted to defund police
I am fairly sure he pushed against it in the State of the Union too.
