The opposite for the Euro which is down 15.3% YoY. For all the mockery of calling inflation transitory, which is 100% fair, interest rate hikes moves have not moved the needle. The Fed is now of course hell bent on not being accused of underreacting and is talking a big game. We'll see if a market crash scares Powell dovish like it did last time. I would equate what they're doing now, killing growth to try to slow inflation, to killing people to solve hunger. Oh and we're on the doorstep of a rail strike.
Fed plans of slowing economy and incresing layoffs to lower inflation. he might be on a 4 year plan cycle. He was late to the game in April.

Definitely not a platform, but to say it was just a few outliers is (which has been suggested) is false. 40+% supported the movement at one time. Now that has certainly calmed down, thank god, but it just goes to show the gullibility of the mob when something 'sounds cool and progressive'

Yes, but as I indicated, many of their comments about "defunding the police" are directed at reallocating resources in a public safety budget to include increasing other methods that have proven successful in that arena.

Curiously, sometimes money talks in getting people to look for alternative methods of "policing."

Googling Ilhan* would certainly make you think so based on her coverage. Realistically this group and AOC is a thorn in Pelosi's side she's been pretty good at keeping "quiet" as of late. I think reasonable Americans and Democrats ignore them unless they agree, "Progressive Left" is about 6% of the public, 12% of Dems per Pew.

Out of curiosity, where's the 40% support number from? Surprising, but don't doubt it, that was a crazy summer. There is no better example of the bifurcated democratic party/voter ideology than that summer. There was such huge momentum after George Floyd's killing, hard line conservatives included, and they completely fumbled it. Nothing to show for it. Why? Because on every single topic there is an ocean between the least and most liberal person and the most liberal people are tripping over each other to go further then villainizing anyone who does not agree with the view they came up with yesterday.

Ron DeSantis reportedly sent two planes full of immigrants to Martha's Vineyard. Greg Abbott sent two busloads full of immigrants to DC.

I admit that I have mixed feelings about this. I also admit that not all of them are bad. If they claim to be a sanctuary city, state, or community, then be one! You have no grounds to be upset that immigrants are being transported to your communities rather than being deported or arrested. Thank you for providing them with an alternative. Now they need to walk the walk and actually try to assimilate them into their communities. If they don't want to do that, then they need to shut the hell up.

Full disclosure, earlier in life I did what was called an "Urban Learning Semester" while at Xavier. I quickly grew very tired of people who wanted to be seen helping the homeless, the addicts, the jobless, and the low income people living in public housing week to week, but never actually wanted to...you know...do anything that helped. They didn't want to actually spend time with anyone and have actual human to human interactions. They just wanted to be a false advocate for them. A little piece of that is still with me. If you want to help immigrants who are fleeing a horrible life situation, then I think that's great! I really do. But if all you want is a political platform, and don't really want to help, and are furthermore actually upset when they arrive on your own doorstep, then please shut the hell up and please go away.

But, do I also think Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott are doing this simply to be dickheads?? Yeah...probably.

    Rant over.

Ha that's pretty much every liberal I know. Most would lose their minds if buses started showing up here.

I know. Like I said, I’ve got mixed feelings. And a piece of me is smiling about this. Not all of me, but admittedly a substantial piece of me.

Twitter is pretty amusing on this topic. People are OUTRAGED that DeSantis and Abbott would use these people as pawns. They're so upset "on behalf of the migrants". Yeah, right. These migrants can be stuck in shitty border towns in Texas or can be stuck in Martha's Vinyard or DC or Chicago. What are the odds that people are ACTUALLY upset on behalf of the migrants and not on behalf of the NIMBYS?
