However, if he cannot show that he has applied his religious beliefs/concerns in other aspects of his life, then I definitely think his case gets very difficult.
I guess I would say I don't see any reason to meet with a doctor for an hour, and ask all sorts of questions about the safety of the vaccine, if your real issue is not getting the vaccine for religious reasons. Why waste everyone's time? Why ask enough questions to make the meeting last an hour? Makes no sense.

I didn't get the impression he asked for the meeting. The way I read it was that the AD set it up for him to try and convince him to get the vaccine. That he was aware of and asked questions about potential side effects and issues with the vaccine doesn't mean those were his reasons for not getting the vaccine.

A couple of his reported questions seemed to revolve around some pretty out there facebook type conspiracy theories.

Nothing up until his final desperation at avoiding getting vaccinated or getting fired indicated any religious reasons.

Do you think his reason for not getting it are really due to religious beliefs?

Not sure if you follow NBA, but do you really think Ben Simmons has "mental health issues" that make him unable to play?

Some things are just so comically obvious, that they really don warrant legitimate debate.

Of course it is. Or then just make a personal preference exemption.

You don't get to claim a medical exemption with no documentation to support it.

You shouldn't (and evidently don't) get to claim a religious exemption with nothing supporting it.

I've been pleasantly surprised that religious exemptions aren't being handed out like candy to everyone claiming one. Sure if there is truly a religious reason, ok, but you don't get to just claim that for convenience.

Sports vaccine mandates have been interesting to follow. Serious - yes because what has been discussed. However, Monday is going to be a real interesting day in NYC with mandates. Hopefully they’ll have limited disruptions in critical services.

No, but I don't think the evidence around that meeting is particuarly probative on that point. He could be aware of all of those Facebook conspiracy theories and still be a devout Catholic.

I know many vaccinated devout Catholics. Have they violated their religious beliefs?

I happen to think Ben Simmons has mental health issues, but it’s more related to extreme anxiety when he gets near the free throw line.

What a dope. Use your time off to learn how to shoot free throws.
