Yes I live in Ohio and voted for Dewine. I blame him for the situation in Ohio. I also blame NY and the MSM for thinking their city should dictate policy around the country. I blame them for looking down on other Americans in better situations than them. I blame them pushing the doom an gloom narrative because they're scared or because they want everyone else to fail too.

My problem with the media is their sensationalism and failure to present the full truth about COVID-19 data and learnings are resulting in public misunderstanding, which in turn will lead to politicians to make bad decisions about how quickly we get people back to work. That is a major public disservice.
That's not cherry picking, that's presenting an accurate representation of the data. That is what exponential growth looks like, and what we have seen or are seeing in literally every geography in the world.
There is not a current sharp rise in death rate in Sweden. Now if you're saying you were referring to Sweden's death rate tripling week-to-week a month ago, than I agree this is a spike. But Ohio has already followed that spike. But if you're saying that deaths are rising sharply in Sweden from 2 weeks ago to this past week, that is just not the case."...treat 'em with respect, or get out of the Gym!"

Look at this graph comparing metro areas. New York isn't even close to the other hard hit cities.

Thinking = pushing stories, narratives, and anecdotal examples that are one offs and not truly representative of what is going on around the country.
Looking down = published stories and tweets about Florida's beaches or protests while their city has the majority of the cases and can't bother to close their subway.

Florida beaches still busy despite coronavirus pandemic, pleas for social distancing - Fox News
Coronavirus: Why are people worldwide flouting advice, restrictions? - Columbus Dispatch
The media doesn't run the subways or midwestern governments. The leaders who run the subway don't run the media.
Ron DeSantis is a Republican, he closed beaches right around when Trump said to avoid discretionary travel and gatherings of more than 10. Trump declared himself a war time President! The media made the most anti-media President ever do that?

I think he got scared into shutting things down. Now that the facts are out, he is opening things earlier. He is asking for sporting events to take place in his state. Beaches are opening again after a few weeks while Cuomo and Governor Blackface/KKK Hood extend their lock downs.

My wife is working from home and most of her day she’s on various conference calls largely consisting of people in NYC. The NYC folks say the ambulance sirens they keep hearing are FAR beyond what is normal, but it’s the “new normal”. All day long. Those with second homes ran away weeks ago.
I don’t think I could ever live a place like NYC with all the vertical living and tight quarters and constantly sharing elevators. My wife’s boss told her during the interview that she wanted her team in NYC, and my wife thanked her for her time. An exception was made. There are very few cities that come close to cramming so many people in so little space. I know there are plenty of HUGE cities, but I’m not surprised that it would grow like wild fire in that setting.Last edited by xu82; 04-19-2020 at 01:21 PM.
