I understand their is a medical aspect and said that should be the driving force, and coaches should be concerned and let the medical staff take the lead.
My point was, in the present climate, coaches need to be particularly careful in what information they impart or even imply or even be perceived as implying. There are potential legal issues and even media perceptions that might come into play.
I think the coaches should generally stay away from medical issues anyway. Concussion protocol in this climate is even more so potentially hazardous to address and should be driven my medical.I don't always drink beer, but when I do, I drink 2XS.

Did Macura get his concussion when he was driving to the basket and accidentally ran into...no, let's say bounced off like a rag doll the brick wall wearing No. 0?

Hey...I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Lighten up.
...he went up late, and I was already up there.

The only reason I participated in this thread is that I know someone who was completely changed personality-wise due to sports-related brain injuries. He is a bit better than he was, but he’ll never get back to his original self. While I agree there’s a smaller risk in basketball than say football or rugby, obviously there’s still a risk or he wouldn’t have gotten a concussion in the first place. I’m not a doctor, but neither is Chris Mack. If there is a “political” climate driving the medical staff decision (which I doubt), then so be it. For far too long, concussions weren’t taken seriously enough.

Sorry to hear about your friend. I hope you are wrong and that he does get back to his old self. I suppose just going through that, even if he "fully recovers" he will forever be changed.
I agree it is a serious issue and should be taken as such. Medical and non-medical communities have learned a lot in the past few years - and continue to gain a better understanding. Caution is a good idea.
I don't think the medical decisions are driven by the present climate, political or not. What I was expressing is that although a coach might comment on a players twisted ankle or even serious knee injury - still leaving confirmation to the medical team, such as, "We'll know better after the surgery" or We'll re-examine the situation in the next few days," when it comes to concussions, they stay away from even appearing to make such comments. I understand that this is appropriate considering the potential seriousness.
I think they are much less likely to even approach commenting on concussion issues than most other injuries. Just my opinion based on casual, non- personal or medical observation.I don't always drink beer, but when I do, I drink 2XS.
