Ah, you and your samesies again!
I get grief for my “whoopsies” at the tennis courts.

I'm not really sure how that is going to work. The told me something to that effect about 'saving the card for travel' when I got my shot, too. I assume it will be for international travel only, since you can travel domestically right now without any proof of vaccination (I believe). I assume it's just a 'get out of having to quarantine free' card of sorts for traveling to/from different countries.
It also seems like it would be pretty easy to forge though, so not exactly an ironclad system.
It is like getting a single barrel bottle of Bourbon with the barrel and warehouse number on it. May have a slightly different flavor depending on where it is stored. So when you go to get your booster next year you can search out to see if you can find your favorite lot.
That’s my concern. My wife and I have a trip to go diving in the Cayman Islands later this year. They’ve been completely shut down to people from the US for a long time. I’d hate to find out my vaccine form isn’t acceptable since it’s all hand written. Based on some of the other comments, I’m not the only one whose form is all hand written, so I feel a little better about it.

Not sure if this is pertinent or not but if you’ve ever seen an immunization record from other countries it is extremely uncommon to see stickers. Typically handwritten or stamped with a date if not handwritten.
So, just a (VERY LOADED) question here... Does anyone fear we are heading back to The Dark Ages? The reason I ask, is because any past pandemic or viral outbreak (which has been handled successfully) has included swift vaccinations and public awareness. Have we forgotten history? And when medicine and science stomped a polio outbreak in NYC in a very short time period?
If you look at the numbers, polls suggest a majority of Trump supporters refuse to get the vaccine (nano chips, deep state, conspiracy), and many more refuse to wear masks (screw aerosol science, and those that provide protection to hospitals and doctors). COVID-19 has devastated countries from Italy to Brazil, but still, in our country, it's a conspiracy (for some).
I wonder where this narrative takes us. Find a cure for cancer? Diabetes? Multiple Sclerosis? Lou Gehrig's disease? Religion and natural selection will prevail! Toughen up buttercup, it's God's way (science and research is the devil).
As a proud Ohioan, looking at social media and comments on The Ohio Department of Health social media pages, I fear we are heading in the wrong direction.
But this thread is about coronavirus specifically. So I must note, I have "COVID ARM", a rash developed several days after injection (for me 9 days) around the injection site. This seems to be a quite common side effect of the Moderna vaccine. It's itchy, but harmless.
Don’t know. FL seems about as good as CA without or minimal restrictions. We’ll see how TX does but there’s a new variable rapidly entering that equation. By science, Dr F and the CDC have been all over the map on this one so it’s tough to really do a cost/benefit analysis. Let’s see if opening some states causes a massive deadly outbreak or if it’s something not nearly as devastating as the economic and mental health toll.
That said. I’ll get the vax when it makes sense. I’m not in the at risk pop so I’ll wait my turn. Still wear my mask out even if it isn’t quite clear on the extent of benefits. I will not wear two masks. Ever. That is too dumb to tolerate.
The data from Florida has given me some hope. They eased restrictions much earlier and are middle of the pack. Maybe some benefit to the weather and being able to do more outside. Who knows.
Back in October, I was actually in the same room as someone who called in sick the next day. Turned out to be COVID. We were both masked and distanced, but it gave me a strong belief that masks help limit the spread.
I was able to get vaccinated, but where I live have to wear masks most places anyway. Actually going forward, depending on where I am, I might wear a mask anyway. Not because of COVID but because I've kind of enjoyed not even having a cold this past year. i used to take public transportation to work everyday and that seems like a good place to wear a mask permanently.
That doesn't make any sense. Wearing a mask on public transportation isn't going to prevent YOU from getting sick. Unless you're wearing around an N95.
Okay. I probably wasn't going to come up to Chicago and rip the mask off your face anyway.
How in the hell did the human race survive until the 21st century without masks? Truly amazing....
I'm definitely not a "forever masker", but we HAVE killed off large portions of various populations as a result of communicable diseases over the course of human history.
I shouldn't be, but I'm stunned at the number of people I see (on Twitter, not in real life) saying that schools should be closed until KIDS are vaccinated. That's insane. I feel so fortunate that our kids got to have a full year of in-person school this year.
Yes, Matt Walsh has it completely right:
"Got on an elevator without a mask. Guy with his wife demands I put one on. I say I don't have it but you'll be fine, calm down. He stops the elevator and storms off, calling me "disrespectful."
It's true. I am. I'm not going to respect your paranoia. Get a grip."

As DOCTOR Rand Paul said last week, wearing masks is just theater...
Paul is an uncertified EYE doctor. Knows nada about infectious diseases.
Here you go pro-maskers who can't see the direction this was going:
Oregon (basically) Proposes Permanent Mask Mandate:
Note: Although the rule must be adopted as a permanent rule, its purpose is to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
Oregon OSHA intends to repeal the rule when it is no longer necessary to address that pandemic. Because it is not
possible to assign a specific time for that decision, Oregon OSHA will consult with the Oregon OSHA Partnership
Committee, the Oregon Health Authority, and other stakeholders as circumstances change to determine when all or
part of the rule can be appropriately repealed.

Recently heard the coronavirus molecule is so small that masks don't effect it. Decided to do a novel concept and actually look it up for myself. Turns out it is smaller than a mask (not including n95) would typically filter but it also turns out that corona molecules are released in droplets that would be filtered. Add to that, droplets dissipate in the air making it easy to transmit. So wearing a mask keeps your droplets on you, but you could still inhale covid molecules that are in the air. So the original logic holds true, wear a mask to protect your neighbors. This has been a custom in Asia for decades when you get sick, you wear a mask.

Appreciate the responses. All great points. FL is being tested right now in several ways (influx of younger Spring Breakers, relaxed restrictions, and slight lagging behind on vaccinations). As far as masks are concerned, I followed a mechanical engineer, who has both experience and primary focus in the aerosal science field, and has been researching KN95/KF94 (foreign "US N95 mask equivalents" from overseas).

Cigarettes and the rest of the tobacco industry have caused cancer. Alcohol, poor diet, has caused liver disease. A combination of them, along with drug abuse, all have caused immediate/delayed serious heart issues, if not death. Combined with Covid, may be lethal. To label this franchise/business... and their operators as a little bit naive and short sighted (especially in a country where "freedom rules")... well, it's lacking some self-awareness, don't ya think?
Now that the entire world (save those profiteering from fear) acknowledge lockdowns are ineffective and completely counterproductive, time to tackle this one.
True: cloth and medical mask pore space (10-20 um diameter for medical, much larger for cloth) is substantially greater than the size of CV19 virus (~0.03 um). Also neither here nor there, but a virus is not a molecule.
True: masks stop droplets, but droplet spread has proven to be an insignificant mechanism for CV19 spread.
False: stopping droplets stops spread. It may stop spread by droplets, but it does nothing about aerosol spread, which has proven to be the primary mechanism for CV19. There is also limited evidence that trapping droplets with a constant air flow results in aerosolizing them, making them - as you stated - easy to transmit.
This is all just conceptual evidence. If you want some practical evidence of the effectiveness of masks (and other NPIs), look at the case data. Cases per capita are the same in geographies with extremely rigorous NPIs, and those that have little/no NPIs. Moreover, cases per capita rise and fall the same, regardless of if/when NPIs were implemented. This is true over and over again.
For those insisting on controlled, randomized testing, then here is the only CRT that has been peer reviewed and published, that shows no significant infection rate difference between masks and unmasked groups: Effectiveness of Adding a Mask Recommendation to Other Public Health Measures to Prevent SARS-CoV-2 Infection in Danish Mask Wearers: A Randomized Controlled Trial: Annals of Internal Medicine: Vol 174, No 3 (acpjournals.org)
Masks do little, if anything. And could even be counterproductive by proving a false sense of security.
Ha, nice try. Did you even read the study, it does nothing to support your erroneous claim that masks do nothing and may even be counterproductive.
1. It was specifically only studying if someone who wore a mask in an area where others did not would significantly reduce infection. So the other people they were around were NOT wearing masks. From the beginning the mask wearing has mostly been about being a good neighbor and wearing one to protect those around you in case you were infected. Unless you are wearing an N95 or better.
2. Check out the self reported limitations of the study:
Inconclusive results, missing data, variable adherence, patient-reported findings on home tests, no blinding, and no assessment of whether masks could decrease disease transmission from mask wearers to others.
What a hilariously pathetic attempt by you to discredit the effectiveness of masks.
The fight against lockdowns I completely understand. I said from the beginning that locking shit down was a horrible idea and plan and would greatly affect people on multiple levels.
The fight against masks however is just so odd...is it really that big of a deal to wear a mask and to die on that hill? I get it, it’s a bit annoying especially for a prolonged period of time but good grief
