    They said it was fake.
So he published the actual chat.
Some people are so gullible it hurts to even think they are hoodwinked by this administration.

Yeah, Paul. A nothingburger however it did get you to click on and read the NYT and FN. It gets harder and harder to take you seriously.

SecDef just uh, turned over an advisory committee today. No reason for posting. Just thought it might be relevant.

Lol, sure. It's up YoY and you may want to take a look at when the run began last year and ask yourself why.

I'm going to take a wild guess that when retired GENERALS say that military strike information is classified.
And that classified information shouldn't be transferred to an unclassified system, with people on it without security clearances.

It's incredible that you would go to such an extent to defend this conduct.
I was in the Navy and primarily served with Marines. A captain in the army is the same as lieutenant in the Navy.
You are correct; he was retired at the rank of Major. Not sure he served any time at that rank.
He then was accused of financial impropriety at 2 veteran non-profits, and allegations of sexual abuse with a $50,000 payoff.(sounds familiar)
The fact that anyone thinks that experience, coupled with years behind a Fox desk, would make anyone capable of leading the largest part of our government, is frankly mind boggling.
And the proof is his basic disregard for classified strike data, putting it on an unsecured network, and endangering our service personnel.

Am really sorry if you don't understand that. It's actually basic military discipline.
...he went up late, and I was already up there.

SB: Any Sec. of Defense, in any other administration, having at least two potentially compromised chats would be fired. Do you support Heggie? If so, what would it take for you to call for his resignation/firing?

Thank you Cpt. Glad we established he was a Major.

The reason is simple Paul. The Signal app has been used by the DoD and if the information was classified then the reporter should be in jail (you are making an assumption with the Generals comment). Also, the media has a long history of botching these types of things since Dan Rather.

Further, can you confirm that an unsecured network was used? The articles are quoting two anonymous sources. The NYT does not have a stellar track record.

Is notifying your superiors if you leave your post part of basic military discipline? Just so we're clear on the rules.

Not defending however pointing out that you are reacting to situation that may or may not be what you have been told it to be. Also, since it appears the mission went off without incident I'm not sure how anyone was put at risk.

One more thing Paul, looking at Pete's bio he appears to have experience in counterinsurgency (Intel). With that I'll ask you, do senior officers and MI create multiple battle plans?

Maybe if you didn't beat all the other horses to death on so many other hoaxes - took some responsibility for all the failures that took place during the Biden and Obama admins - maybe, just maybe, we could take you seriously....

Right now, this is just another boy who cried wolf story...
When they say, “We must protect our democracy,” switch the word “democracy” to “bureaucracy”, and it will all make sense.

The people on the first Signal chat accidentally looped the editor of the Atlantic in on the chat..and when they denied it, he published details from the chat.
You think that was made up? No one denied what he reported.

Tonight I had dinner with some friends. One is a retired Navy Admiral. He was the Captain of a nuclear submarine, and in his last years worked in the Pentagon. He was promoted to Admiral (never served in that capacity) at his retirement. In that way, they get a bigger pension. I'm assuming the same happened with Hegseth going from Captain to Major when he retired. Maybe not.

My friend's comment was he would not have been fired right away if he did what Hegseth and those people did. He would have been court martialed first.
I remain amazed that you defend the conduct of those who risk our national security.
And the Pentagon does not us Signal for classified material. They have their own secure communication network.
...he went up late, and I was already up there.
