When they say, “We must protect our democracy,” switch the word “democracy” to “bureaucracy”, and it will all make sense.

I'm not young. I've watched administration after administration take turns fucking the American people. So why trust Trump? I don't. I have plenty of experience as to why not to. But compared to the previous administration, I'll take Trump every time. And so far he seems to be doing what he said he would do. That's unusual. What are those?... Drain the swamp and close the borders. Two things I wholeheartedly support.
As to where the Tariff money will go, I suppose it would go to the treasury. But I could give them my routing number if that works for you.

Curious to know what you think the swamp is and what exactly he drained of it? Most important thing to me is my family, and with that their financial future and our situation. What Trump has done so far in this term is completely fuck that up, and it's only going to get worse at the very least in the short term. While the other candidate was fucking horrible as well, this second term isn't starting out so hot in my eyes either.

Why do people excuse Trump's actions by saying the other candidate was worse?
What about Harris was worse...other than she was a Democrat. What shortcomings in her record make you think she was "worse"?
Take responsibility for putting this guy in office. Don't be like other R's who won't accept responsibility.
Even smart people like billionaire Ackman realize they made a mistake. I don't think Harris would be tanking the market....he went up late, and I was already up there.

The economy has always seemed to be a hire priority to the Reps than the Dems. Yet the leadership on the right still isn't calling this out or addressing any of the concerns. That's kind of hard not to notice.

The swamp is USAID, DoE, etc. The bureaucracy that spends money in ridiculous ways all the while the country is in deep debt. If you're worried about your children, you're fooling yourself if you think this debt climb is sustainable. The interest on the debt is equal to military spending.
Now, there is one way that debt could be wiped away. ...Print 36 trillion dollars. Rough math that's what about 100K for each person? How big is your household? 4 or 5 hundred K for your house? What happens to your childrens future then?
The money has been wasted and stolen. Gone. Stolen from you, and me, and everyone else here. You can be outraged at me for that, but I didn't get any of it, nor did I vote for it.

ok fair points. I think all of us would agree there has been plenty of wasteful spending by our government for decades. I'm just not naive enough to believe that the country is going to save all this money. Lobbyists still run this country and they have the politicians bought and paid for on both sides of the aisle.
I think there are probably better ways to take care of our debt than starting a trade war and crippling the economy.

I didn't want to vote for either of Trump or Harris in the general election. I'd have preferred Desantis or Haley or for the Democrats to have actually held a process that involved voters to select a candidate that people didn't hate. I voted for Trump because he was the least bad option from my POV.
As for Republicans not calling out Trump, you'd have to have slept through the last 10 years to wonder about this. "Mainstream" Republicans have tried many times to challenge/call out/get rid of Trump. Every time they do, they get slaughtered. Even someone as popular as Ron Desantis essentially got neutered when he challenged Trump directly. Am I happy about that dynamic? Of course not. But other than becoming Democrats or completely ceding power to the Democrats, the Republicans at this point don't really have a choice but to go along with Trump.
Do I think this administration is going well? Not really, but I didn't really expect it to. I HOPED it would go better. I think they're doing some things I like. I appreciate the improvements at the border and on immigration. I like the efforts on cutting government spending. I like the idea of re-shoring jobs. Of course, none of those things are being done in a way that is exactly ideal. I don't love losing 10-15% (maybe 20, 25, 30 percent by the time we're done) of my 401(k), but I've seen market downturns before, and I'm sure it will be fine in a few years.
So I don't love it. But the modern, progressive Democratic party does nothing for me, and their vision for the country doesn't give me warm fuzzies for my children. So here we are.

America is the great capitalist society. We are the financial engine of the world. Given our wealth there is no reason we should be in the situation we are. But here we are.
Who carries our debt? If the debt is to ourselves, then it's easy, it just gets forgiven. It's just on paper. But if it's held by a foreign entity, then I predict war with that entity.
Enjoy what we have now, because it ain't lasting. The damage has been done.
Also, the deep fakes will soon get so deep no one will know the truth.
