The foul count was UC 21/XU 19.

If you take away the 5 intentional fouls by UC in the last 35 seconds, it's 16/19.

Reading one of the UC boards and the comments basically come down to…

UC didn’t play a schedule that prepared the team to play against a team like X, but X still isn’t a good team.

UC players are soft, but refs called them for everything and X got away with everything.

UC should never lose this game to Egg, but it really doesn’t mean anything to us and it’s X’s Super Bowl.

Our team is so much more talented than Xavier’s but both of them will probably end up in the NIT.

You’d think that after losing over and over again to X that they’d come up with some new excuses. When are they just going to realize that X puts a better product on the floor year after year? How many times do they have to lose before they get it?

My favorite is the one that comes like clockwork every year: that this game is our Super Bowl, and it simply doesn’t mean that much to them. This is as weak as it gets.

Another vein of “thought” over there has to do with how well positioned they are for the future and how we are supposed to wither over time. One idiot was going on about their $40 million in Big 12 money versus our $4 million in the BE. I hope he isn’t a product of their business school, given that they have to fund football, and that they absolutely run their AD in the red.

It’s like it has not dawned on them yet that, beginning next year, they are going to be in a football conference where the best football program is Oklahoma State.

When I first started going to Xavier games, the record for X in the shootout was 13-35. It is now 40-51. We're catching up. A few more of these really enjoyable win streaks and the whole thing will flip.

What that means, of course, is that in the 43 years since the Annointment of Bob Staak- the true “Modern Era” , Xavier is 27-16 vs their “rival”. A .628 winning percentage wins you Baseball Division Championships. That is also through 8 Coaching changes and the Steele Era vs the “geniuses” of Huggins & Mick.
This is the definition of “Program” Dominance folks.
And by the time the next Shootout comes around Xavier’s dominance will have extended to 1831 days. How appropriate!
