Before some start to lose confidence in Des’ ability to start next year, there is thing called freshman to sophomore leap. Yes he struggled with decision making/turnovers but showed flashes as being a well rounded player. His shooting should improve with a full off season with Sean.

Thank you. With the era of transfers and the "win now" attitude, it's easy to forgot that players take time to develop. Des will be a stud for us if he continues to play for Sean.

I’m with you here. There were some head scratching moments (and fouls), but there were also some positive flashes. I hope it slows down for him a bit with decision making and that the shot and confidence will come around in time.

Des will be unreal next year. Would be shocked if he is at Xavier after next year. He is going to the league

Wow, really? I am excited by Des and not down on him as some seem to be but you think he's going to the NBA after next year? I mean I'd be all for it considering he would probably be having an All American type year next year. Not sure I buy that tho.

Kerr likely won’t be an upgrade defensively.

Dez is def not going to the league and if he does it won’t be next year unless he becomes the next Jordan
If I was going to school for school, I wouldn’t have picked the University of Cincinnati. Dontonio Wingfield

I've had some friends suggest that Free will not be back next year, either pro overseas or transfer to another school and that there seemed to be more to the story with his injury and absence from the team.

Would actually really love to see Free come back. I get if he wants to start pro career, would be disappointing if he transfers to another team.

Coach Miller raves about Des, he likes that he can sub in and play spots 1-4. Solid defender and a year of experience, he will have a big role next season.

    ,

He is only a freshman and has time to improve. But, he will have to improve EXPONENTIALLY to go to the NBA after next year. I don't see it, at all, as realistic. Dez, today, is not close to being as good as Colby was at the end of his freshman year. And I don't consider Colby to be a lock going pro next year. To me, Dez is not even close.

With the development of the portal and successful examples of established players leaving a school for more NIL money elsewhere----Nigel Pack got $450K to transfer to Miami last year----it is only a matter of time before one or more veteran players, here at X, tie their return to a specific sum of NIL money. I'm not there yet; its a bit distasteful to me. But that scenario occurring seems inevitable and will likely happen sooner not later. NIL is about letting free market compensation principles into college sports. Could be going on right now.
