I don't begrudge the LIV guys for getting paid but I think your math is a little off. If you are making between 500k and 1m, you're most likely not on the PGA tour. In 2022 the 100th player on the PGA tour made 1.2 million dollars and that's before any endorsement/marketing money and earnings on any other tour. That golfer is Stephan Jaegger. I'm not sure there's an argument out there that Stephan Jaegger is worth exponentially more to the PGA tour than what he made last year.

How many millions/billions have guys made off endorsements via the PGA Tour platform? A platform that guys like Nicklaus, Palmer, Watson and many others before even them helped create and build? Of course those same players who have reaped the rewards have also helped sustain the value of the product and the PGA Tour. This enables them to negotiate huge TV and sponsorship deals. I see a product that's grown, purses have grown, players bank accounts have grown and very few negatives from my perspective. Of course there will always be those who want more.........

Of course players do well or they wouldn’t be doing it. But the argument again is should they be making guaranteed money like other sports. If someone comes along and asks if I want to grind it out and make 3 million a year or 30m upfront and probably another 3m during the year I’m probably going to take the upfront money all day. That’s why golfers like Rahm, Cantlay and Xander are keeping the door open. At some point in their careers they may want that guaranteed 50-100m.

And NONE OF THIS would have happened without a viable competitor to the PGA Tour.
The players would have kept getting used and screwed. The only alternative to force change would have been a players Union like MLB developed years ago, but that model doesn’t work in an individual contractor sport.

Golfers have to pay for everything!!!! Travel/Lodging/food/Caddy/Coaching. All those things are paid for in major sports throughout the world. Players outside the top 50ish aren't taking home the money you think they are.

And that is it. Basically minimal advertising dollars.
Guess who else gets “sponsor money”? NBA on the uniforms.
Anybody want to pontificate on the guilt of the NBA raking in huge dollars from China?? They’re such an upstanding country!!!

Wanna answer the question about the difference in pro sports funding between China and Saudi Arabia, where one is given a silent pass while “High Horse” pontificators slam the Saudi support????????
