From Adam Baum less than an hour ago:

"The biggest hurdles to overcome right now are that other schools are further along in the process with Miller, and there are questions regarding the NCAA investigation into alleged infractions from his time at Arizona, sources said."

This article seems to suggest that the investigation is a sticking point for hiring Miller???

It’s certainly something that has to be considered.

I think it’s more due diligence and how to construct the contract with unknowns. I expect the offer to come if it hasn’t yet.

Wonder how long Christopher can keep the team and recruits together if it is going to take some time to sort out the potential violations on Miller?

If they keep winning NIT games that’s not a problem

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would welcome Miller back with open arms even if the ncaa suspends him for up to a full season. Happy to trade away one season for 10 to 15 good ones.

    This.

The legal and compliance diligence that needs to be done is significant. Accept that as fact or not. But it’s necessary for our legal teams to sign off on this.

It can’t just be “South Carolina was willing to hire him, so that’s enough for us”. No, it’s full diligence performed to the satisfaction of our legal and compliance teams.

That would take a little time in this situation.

Id be shocked if Miller hadn’t already paid for a third party (independent) review of his hirability by a known firm that could investigate such matters. Having a law firm sign off on the fact that he’s clean will expedite the hiring. But we would still need time to review their approach and findings.

Not worth it if he’s tainted.

We know this. He knows this. Delay is not reason for alarm

I would be beyond shocked if any of our recruits ended up coming next year.

Exactly. There are several coaches in positions still that they had then that were also being investigated. It's not like he is facing a show cause penalty. Slap on the wrist would be all.

For the players, not necessarily the recruits though.

Although if we get Miller, it will have been worth any lost player or recruit no matter how long it takes. Miller will be infinitely more valuable than any current or potential player we have.
