We often had the kids in private school. We paid the non-Catholic rate even though we were Catholic because the excess went to those in need of tuition assistance. They needed it more than we did. Never resented a single penny. Many of our kids friends could not have gone there without some help.
Your taxes are also paying for police, firemen, etc but I was very surprised education amounted to 2/3 of our property tax. Then you think of all the brick and mortar, teachers, staff, school bus drivers, etc and I guess that’s about right.

What treatment are you suggesting? There’s not a lot of proven options on the outpatient side of things. In fact there is only 1, and it is being utilized.
If we are talking about hospitalizations and deaths as the outcome, the result is identical 99+% of the time to the low risk general population whether they receive any treatment or not. For high risk people the monoclonal antibody treatment is fairly effective when given early but not 100% (more like 70-80%). There could be more awareness in this treatment for sure but it is being given at a much higher rate now than it was last wave. CVS and other places that test now include that as a treatment option on their “if you test positive” paperwork that nobody reads.
Still the vast majority of hospitalizations are unvaccinated and vaccinated/immunocompromised.
And I will say there is growing fatigue in the hospitals in treating unvaccinated patients. It’s human nature to not continuously help people that won’t help themselves.

A few hundred thousand dead and the suggestion is that "go home until you cannot breath" is a better option than unproven treatments that are safely utilized for other causes, known to have anti-viral properties, and are safe when properly dosed and administered? This is surprising.
The one known treatment is 70-80% effective (when treated early). Is this not enough to have made this routine by now? It isn't 100% effective. Is 70-80% effective not sufficient for widespread use long before now? You speak fairly casually of something that is 70-80% effective in SAVING LIVES, when the alternative is "go home until you cannot breath". "There could be more awareness for sure" and "CVS and other places that test now include that as a treatment option on their...paperwork that nobody reads". Huh? More awareness for sure? It is an option on paperwork nobody reads? I don't find this acceptable. Do you? We could be saving lives but CVS (along with the President, the CDC, the media, and most others in a position to spread the news far and wide) is going to simply present it as an option on paperwork that nobody reads? Why don't we hide vaccine information on paperwork nobody reads? Strange.
I am guessing the hundreds (thousands?) of nurses holding out on being vaccinated are not fatiguing from patients who have made the same decision they have in regards to the vaccine. They are probably wondering why the protocol is "do nothing until you cannot breath" - especially when we have a treatment which is 70-80% effective that is not being shouted from the rooftops. I guess I understand though, it is only 70-80% effective, would prevent the need to mandate vaccines, could have saved thousands of lives by now and could save thousands more, so it ought to be scarcely talked about (outside of Florida) and hidden on paperwork that nobody reads rather than making it standard treatment.
This all seems so bizarre to me..perhaps par for the course with the government, but surely not standard practice in medicine?Last edited by principal; 09-18-2021 at 12:05 PM.

The antibody treatment is standard of care for high risk people, but only works when given early. Did you know when given late or when symptoms are severe the outcomes are actually worse? The problem is people don’t seek testing and treatment on day 1. They wait too long because they thought it was just a cold or allergies. And again, the vaccine is the most effective weapon we have so why are we continually focused on treatments that are less effective, more costly, and more of a strain to the healthcare system? This is a deadly respiratory virus. Preventing transmission is and always will be the focus of the disease.
