As long as you're vaccinated, why again do you care about being around the unvaccinated?

    This!

And, why won't you vax fanatics (on this board and in the CDC and media) recognize natural immunity?

On a selfish level: 96% isn't 100%. I trust the seatbelt and airbags in my car will keep me safe in most accidents, but I do not go looking for an accident to test it out. So while for the most part I have returned to normal life, I certainly would feel better if I knew the people around me at the FCC game or the TBT game this weekend are vaccinated.

On a non-selfish level: I would like to see the stop of the spread of the virus. The more it spreads, the more it will mutate, the greater risk that it will break through the vaccine and we are back to square 1. I don't ever want to go through the last year again.

This times 100! With the virus and mutations lingering it's not a matter of if the current vaccine will be irrelevant but when. Why is this hard to figure out?

Dr. Brytney Cobia said Monday that all but one of her COVID patients in Alabama did not receive the vaccine. The vaccinated patient, she said, just needed a little oxygen and is expected to fully recover. Some of the others are dying. "I'm admitting young healthy people to the hospital with very serious COVID infections," wrote Cobia, a hospitalist at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, in an emotional Facebook post Sunday. "One of the last things they do before they're intubated is beg me for the vaccine. I hold their hand and tell them that I'm sorry, but it's too late."

Alabama has one of the nation's lowest vaccination rates, which is contributing to rising infection totals and climbing hospitalization rates in the state. Avoidable tragedies are becoming more common.

Cobia added, "A few days later when I call time of death, I hug their family members and I tell them the best way to honor their loved one is to go get vaccinated and encourage everyone they know to do the same.

"They cry. And they tell me they didn't know. They thought it was a hoax. They thought it was political. They thought because they had a certain blood type or a certain skin color they wouldn't get as sick. They thought it was 'just the flu'. But they were wrong. And they wish they could go back. But they can't. So they thank me and they go get the vaccine. And I go back to my office, write their death note, and say a small prayer that this loss will save more lives."

Reflecting on the patients who believed misinformation, the Alabama doctor -- whose accounts have not been independently verified -- went on to say, " you really see is their fear and their regret. And even though I may walk into the room thinking, 'Okay, this is your fault, you did this to yourself,' when I leave the room, I just see a person that's really suffering, and that is so regretful for the choice that they made."

I find myself thinking about this often in recent weeks. We see so many people making the wrong choice, buying into nonsense, and rejecting safe and readily available vaccines, followed by the heartbreaking reports that soon follow. And I suspect some will see these developments and say those who are suffering are undeserving of sympathy.

After all, the argument goes, these folks were given an opportunity to do the responsible thing, and they ignored it."

Lib conspiracy? Dr. Cobia had to go underground due to death threats.
Lib conspiracy? Actually, yes. I'm calling total bullshit on this!

This isn't an issue. Did she have one or 2 young unvaccinated people die on her? Sure, that's a possibility. But using this as some representation of reality is pure propaganda. To date, there are a total of only 2807 people under the age of 29 that have died of Covid in the US! That's out of a population of ~125M. That's a death rate of 0.002% for that cohort. Compare that to the 1.52% death rate for people over the age of 75 - which makes up 57% of all covid deaths in the US.

Are you telling me that she has some disproportion of that population that is creating a discernible trend? C'mon, are you really that gullible?

Moreover, how many of those patients in the that demo died of Covid alone - with no other underlying conditions? It's likely near zero. The CDC website (82 and villbilly is that official enough for you), states that "over 5% of these deaths, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned on the death certificate. For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 4.0 additional conditions or causes per death." This is nothing new - we've known this for a long time.

And no, there are no meaningful changes in the age demo trends for the US (cases or deaths): https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tra...aphicsovertime

Additionally, you can see from the WA state data (only one I could find that reports hospitalization data by age) that hospitalizations and deaths are not an issue for people under the age of 49 when you compare it to the number of cases: https://www.doh.wa.gov/Emergencies/C...shboard#tables

Get a grip people! Have some perspective! Look at the fucking data! You're being lied to and manipulated. They want you scared!

Info from 2 weeks ago, doesn't prove anything. The person cited on the tweet isn't even the same person.
