Not at all, even if you took it that way. Should a dog with kennel cough be allowed to board with your dog? Should a kid with [fill in the communicable disease here] be allowed to sit at a desk next to your kid in school. There IS a line. Where you set it is the fuzzy part and is going to vary from person to person. Ultimately somebody has to make the decision. It’s most often the institution (be it school, business, kennel, etc) I think, but I’m sure there are cases where a government entity makes sense. And I’m a “less government, stay out of my business” kinda guy!
You could easily argue that seatbelt laws are an invasion of your right to choose and an invasion of your privacy. I would get that argument, but I still don’t mind the law. Sometimes people need to be protected from themselves. Someone is going to have to draw some lines....somewhere. We can all argue from case to case. Laws exist for a reason.

I think seatbelt laws are the wrong analogy, instead it is like a speed limit. Sure my car can go 120mph on 71N, and that is a personal choice I make, but at some point my stupidity impacts other people, so as a society we decided to put a limit on my stupidity in degradation of my freedom to drive how I want.

My BIL just flew back to Atlanta and is now driving home to Greenville, SC after a wedding up north. He went out with the other sister’s s longtime boyfriend in his fancy new BMW. Apparently this thing is self driving and quite the vehicle! Jorge told him what buttons to push and he could just take his hands off the wheel at 80 mph. It will slow down if you get close to something and keep you in your lane. He said it felt and sounded like they were barely moving. He wanted to push it a bit to see if it would remain so steady. Jorge said “it’s got radar detection built in, go as fast as you want!” He took it up to 102 mph and it just glided. Not sure how close to 102 mph I’ve ever gotten, but I’m pretty sure it was in a different zip code.
