Yes, it's supposed to be. It's fear porn. Here's how it's done: Take an unusual sounding symptom, make it sound like it's unique to Covid, and make it VERY scary.
And here's how you employ critical thought:
1. Consider the source and their agenda. NTY is a left leaning (far leaning) source, with motive to make Covid sound as bad as possible to support the "Trump did nothing and killed 200,000 people" narrative.
2. Ask some common sense questions. Covid has been around since at least January. If this were such a big deal, why is it just coming up now?
3. Learn from the past: There have been several other normal viral symptoms that were "fear porned" just like this (red babies, myocarditis, to name a couple), maybe this is another?
4. Do some quick research. Look at that this is very common with viral infections, including the flu and common colds.
Now ask yourself, why are these lies being perpetuated, aren't you getting fed up with being lied to?"...treat 'em with respect, or get out of the Gym!"

More Evidence that Masks DON'T Work...
CDC: 85% of COVID-19 patients report ‘always’ or ‘often’ wearing a mask: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6936a5.htm
The WHO has also recently admitted that lockdowns don't work either.
For the love of God, stop the madness!! This pure hubris among those that think they know better....

Ahhh, but we have you to trust. We are so blessed!
You can pick and chose your links to prove anything you want. I’m not even clicking on that one.
The people at either end of the spectrum are rarely worth listening to.
Common sense tells me masks are helpful. If you disagree, fine. Be one of the rude assholes at the grocery store because you think you know more than anyone else. The rest of us look at you and think you are a pompous ass.

I generally refrain from responding to your posts for several reasons, mostly that I don’t believe you are here with an open mind.
The WHO statement was by one individual when asked about lockdowns and his response that lockdowns should not be the “primary” approach to dealing with covid. This was due to the consequence of poverty that lockdowns may have. He specifically referenced poor countries that rely on travel and tourism. Defining a lockdown isn’t easy but I believe his words are being taken out of context, and I believe most would agree that lockdowns should not be the PRIMARY (key word) means of handling the virus. The far right leaning sites that took the quote and ran with it are just as guilty as the fear porn left leaning sites. If we cannot admit that, then there is no middle ground in this.
Now regarding masks, they work and the evidence is overwhelming. There are several posts in this thread that refer to various types of masks and their effectiveness or lack of effectiveness with filtering viruses. Perhaps we are overthinking things a bit. If I may attempt to simplify the transmission of this, it appears that this is aerosolized and likely present in respiratory droplets. Masks of any kind even when worn incorrectly decrease the amount of exposure from the person spreading the virus AND there is evidence that it may even have a protective effect in disease severity. You still may get sick but let’s say instead of full exposure you have half exposure. In many infections the amount of viral particles you have exposure to can dictate the severity of the illness. That isn’t going to be the case every time with COVID, as we know there are certain inflmmatory pathways that are highly active in some people that are the main driver in disease severity. However, this article touches on masks potentially being protective:
https://link.springer.com/article/10...06-020-06067-8
There are countless articles on the effectiveness of facial coverings in the slowing of transmission. I would be happy to post more, but it really feels like a waste of time a piece of cotton on one’s face is going to be politicized.

Science be damn I guess - keep wearing your masks! If masks work, how did 85% of the covid patients in that CDC study (published by the CDC, and posted on the CDC website) who admitted to wearing masks "always" or "often", get covid? Use common sense people!!
If masks work, how are infections going up across the US - sure is hell not from a lack of people not wearing masks!
Take a look at the studies from around the world: https://swprs.org/face-masks-evidence/
