I wish the media would quit asking Donald Trump whether or not he will accept the results of the election and commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he loses. I think this is more about the media hunting for a story, and it reinforces the idea that he actually has a choice.
"Coach, if you lose today's playoff game, will you accept the results and commit to peacefully exiting the playoffs or will you go ahead and play in the next round?"
"Sir, if your boss ends up firing you, will you accept the results of that termination, or will you stay in the building and continue working there anyway?"
Any scenario where anyone loses an election and then doesn't leave office is preposterous and outrageous. The person should be viewed as someone who's trespassing in a high security area, and should be dealt with accordingly. If you lose, you leave. You don't get a choice. If he or anyone else actually does try and refuse, then they should take their keys, change the locks, and have the secret service drag them out of the building and off to jail.

I do think there is a chance of him attempting to flee the country if he loses. I'm guessing/thinking that he won't, but I don't think it's entirely outside the realm of possibility either. Truth be told, I don't know how dirty or clean I think the guy actually is. I think he's entirely full of shit, but that in and of itself doesn't mean he will face prosecution. Still....A LOT of his former subordinates have, so....

I am not a lawyer but unless you can legally value assets differently when you borrow money or when you compute your taxes, it seems to me that Trump had to have committed either tax fraud or bank fraud (or both). My guess is that the SDNY attorneys are beavering away at just this issue.

To me, it's not a question of whether or not Trump accepts the results of the election - we know he will even though he loves to put on a defiant persona for the public.
It's a matter of whether or not half the country accepts a potential Trump victory or throws a tantrum and tries to burn down half the country.

For me, this is lucky page #777 of the thread. Spin the reels, then....and it comes up white supremacist for all of us!

The first debate is tonight. The inevitable result is that I'll watch it and then feel even worse about things than I do right now. I do wish that part of the format allowed the candidates to ask each other questions. These aren't really debates as much as they are a shared press conferences.

My favorite is that no matter what question is asked, the person is free to answer whatever question they wanted asked. I bet we see exchanges like tonight:
"Q. How do you respond to the on going climate crisis:
A. Let me tell you tell you the real crisis is the one happening in the streets of Chicago"
"Q. Your health care plan is estimated to raise the deficit by billions, how will it be paid for
A. I met little Timmy on the campaign trail, and his father was just laid off by the bank and they cannot afford new crutches for the winter, plus they keep being visited ghosts. These are the things that will happen under my opponents plans."
That being said, copious amounts of bourbon makes it more fun."If our season was based on A-10 awards, there’d be a lot of empty space up in the rafters of the Cintas Center." - Chris Mack
