That's some strange stuff in New Zealand.
I understood from their earlier efforts that they had relaxed restrictions, and actually gone over 100 days with no new cases.

That would be good for us if we could do that.
...he went up late, and I was already up there.

I'm afraid you are focusing on a fictitious outcome. Fauchi himself said that under our best case scenario, we have a vaccine widely available by the end of 2021, which is 50% effective. Even if that comes true, it's not an end.

If immunity persists, we will reach herd immunity long before that, even with mitigation measures. If immunity doesn't persist, than a vaccine won't help any more than it does the flu.

As to FL hospitals, yes a number were full due in part to all the surgeries postponed during the lockdown and part due to COVID. But others in close proximity were able to take the overload. No one went without proper care.

LOL. I suggested this on this board back in March when the first cases appeared in Ohio, and was laughed off the stage.

You weren’t laughed off the stage in my books, I believe I suggested something similar. And we had discussions on Florida starting this (Jacksonville area maybe?) which was a good idea.

The people who are saying we will have a vaccine by such and such a date are laughable to me. As if that is some sure thing and that it will be effective. It could also very well be that there will never be a "cure" for this

This is not the flu so immunity would be different. It would just require boosters until herd immunity is achieved. We will have a vaccine well before the end of next year. Vaccinate the high risk folks first and go on down the list. The trials have shown it to be much more than 50% effective.

Read the clinical trials. It’s effective in the short term which should be good enough to get back to life.

WHO director Pete Townsend, er General Tedros states we can’t go back to the way things were before and “In particular, the Covid-19 pandemic has given new impetus to the need to accelerate efforts to respond to climate change.”
