On a different note, I can report that Xavier incoming class did not "melt away" as everyone worried about, and hence this year's class is the second largest in Xavier history. Returning students also did not disappear any more than normal, so Xavier is bursting at the seams with students. The budget is still taking a hit because of drops in non-tuition income (dorms/caf, etc), but if we can get through the fall without having to shut down because of a flare-up, Xavier will come out of this in better shape than many of us feared. And hopefully the big cuts in salaries, benefits, and some staff/teaching positions can soon be reversed.
Xavier always goes to the NCAA tournament...Projecting anything less than that this season feels like folly--Eamonn Brennan, ESPN (Summer Shootaround, 2012)

Agree, he is a major douche...

I think it would be extremely rich if he got the rona. Either he doesn't abide by his own dictates - or - his dictates simply don't work.

Lloyd I've been watching some MSM national news, and can tell you that this is a tremendous, concerning, troubling outbreak that is way out of control.

Don't worry though, I'm not switching sides on the mask issue. I still believe it's beneficial to wear one. Just not this kind or this kind.

But it sounds like Hawaii could use a step-up in enforcement. I recommend they follow Australia's lead:

For those who believe the mass hysteria surrounding Covid, I have to ask you a few questions:

How many cases are the result of people testing positive on multiple occasions? In Florida, who reports that data, that metric is roughly 30-35%.

Are positive antibody tests being counted as current cases - when in reality those people were infected weeks or months ago?

How many false positives are being counted as cases? If someone tests positive on the first test, but then gets a second test indicating no Covid, does the case still exist in state data? Think Gov. of Ohio.

How many people are automatically being counted as cases when someone was known to be in contact with an infected person?

How many Mexican nationals coming across the border to be treated in U.S. hospitals are counted in state data for TX, AZ, NM and CA?

Did the decision by Medicare to pay hospitals $13K create a financial incentive for hospitals to misdiagnose a patient as having Covid? (if a Covid pneumonia patient ends up on a ventilator, it goes up to $39,000)

How many deaths are FROM Covid versus deaths WITH Covid?

How many Covid deaths are the result of comorbidities? According to a study conducted by the Children's Health Defense: “90.2% of fatalities had at least 1 comorbidity and therefore these fatalities would not be counted as COVID-19 fatalities under the 2003 CDC Handbook, but instead are counted based upon the NVSS guidelines and CSTE position paper adopted by the CDC on March 24th and April 14th respectively.”

“When a person with a lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 dies, their death is automatically counted as a COVID-19 death unless there is another cause that completely rules out COVID-19, such as a fatal physical injury,” the [Colorado Department of Health] spokesman said. “A pre-existing illness would not rule out COVID-19.”

Dr. Deborah Birx stated in a press conference: “There are other countries that if you had a pre-existing condition, and let’s say the virus caused you to go to the ICU [intensive care unit] and then have a heart or kidney problem. Some countries are recording that as a heart issue or a kidney issue and not a COVID-19 death. The intent is if someone dies with COVID-19, we are counting that as a COVID-19 death.”

How many deaths are being marked as Covid as a result of errors/corruption/maleficence? There are numerous examples, most famously, the guy that died in a motorcycle accident, but was counted as a Covid death. Several states have made significant corrections to previously reported data over the last several months.

How many “probable Covid” deaths are hospitals reporting? From the NY Times: “About half of states are now reporting probable deaths to the C.D.C. and publicly on their health department websites, though sometimes these are unlabeled or tucked away in a footnote. Some states lump these deaths with lab-confirmed deaths.”

How many deaths are the result of Democratic governors ordering Covid patients into nursing homes?

Are deaths being counted in Covid reporting on the date of death, or on the date the data arrives at a state reporting center (I’ve heard that there can be a lag time of weeks and months in some cases)?

“Between 20 and 30 percent of death certificates nationwide were wrong before COVID-19, Bob Anderson, chief of the mortality statistics branch at the National Center for Health Statistics, said in an interview with the USA TODAY Network. ‘I’m always worried about getting good data. I think this sort of thing can be an issue even in a pandemic,’ Anderson said. A review of Missouri hospitals in 2017, for example, found nearly half of death certificates listed an incorrect cause of death. A Vermont study found 51% of death certificates had major errors. Nearly half of the physicians the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention surveyed in 2010 admitted that they knowingly reported an inaccurate cause of death.”

Where are the deaths? Our medical overlords have told us that deaths begin appearing roughly 3 or 4 weeks after a spike in cases. However, it’s been 6.5 weeks since cases have doubled over the flat line trend during the spring, and 4 weeks since it tripled over that same time period. “Growth” in Covid deaths have been negligible in comparison:

Getting political pleasure of someone ill would probably also qualify one to be a major douche.

Well dont worry, he tested negative and is already feeling better. Him and his wife must have had that mysterious 6 hour sickness...he was probably crossing his fingers hoping he was positive.

On July 4th, (6.5 weeks ago) the 7 day trend of deaths in the country was 500/day.

For the last three weeks it has been 1000/day. That wouldn't appear to be a "negligible" "growth."

    Not true: https://ourworldindata.org/coronavir...pickerSort=asc

You may want to note the note about the spike on 6/26
