Yikes! That would scare the kids to death. Even though he should, guess that’s why Trump doesn’t wear a mask in public.
Maybe Azar should have said something like: “As we have seen, kids are less likely to catch the virus. End of May, it was potentially discovered that they have a lower level ACE-2 gene expression in their nasal passage than adults therefore lowering their susceptibility. Also, there are some studies/evidence show kids are less likely to spread it. You would think kids would be one big Petri dish like with most viruses specially during the seasonal flu season, but this doesn’t seem to be the case Covid.” Instead of that drivel.
The good news is though, this hasn’t done near the damage to kids as the H1N1. During that time, we saw very little disruption on kids going to school.

Through 5/8/2020, hard CDC data demonstrated U.S. children <1 to 14 years old were ~7X more likely to die from this year’s seasonal influenza, despite available vaccination, than covid19.

That is my point exactly. It just doesn't seem like that big of a deal. I also don't like wearing a mask. What I really don't like is watching my investment portfolio tank. If wearing the mask can help prevent that from happening again, sign me up. If it doesn't, I was slightly inconvenienced for a relatively small period of time. I also don't really want to get COVID, even a mild case. If I do get it, I'd rather delay that until we know more about treating it. It seems like a lot of potential upside for limited downside.
To equate wearing a mask with shutting down the economy is an absurd false equivalency.
Right. It's not awful, but it's annoying.Eat Donuts!

I might get masks with "Its not awful, but it's annoying" printed on them.

This could offset any decline in your investment portfolio. Find a contractor in China to make them for you, you’ll get a great price.
The restaurant where I tried to have lunch today was closed because some employees have tested positive. The rest of the staff is being tested now. I was there twice last week eating on their covered patio. They seemed to do everything possible in the restaurant (masks, touchless menus, etc.). Who knows where these people caught it? I’m not actually concerned, but that’s another lunch option off the list. Hope everyone is well.
Do you people eat out? Indoors? Outdoors? Just take out? Or still not yet?

I wore a mask early in March and April and then stopped until this week. I am not in favor of closing anything down and agree wearing one is an annoyance but a small price to be pay in the grand scheme of things. This country is allowing itself to be pulled apart by a political system that is broken. There is no leadership on either side, they are all all self serving and need to go.

3 weeks later here we are with the NBA teams arriving in Central Florida. Hospitalizations are not reported from Florida though the governor stated Tuesday they will start reporting that.
However there is a site that you can view their open beds. This is staggering, and I have been watching these numbers increase the last couple weeks. To summarize, there are counties with zero available beds now and the occupancy rate is now over 90% for ICU beds.
The NBA has a good plan in place that could very well be ruined by their choice of places to play.

I gotta say the whole mask thing makes me scratch my head. If there is a .01% chance that it would help stop the spread and improve the economy it seems like a small inconvenience to deal with.
My wife is a nurse and wears the real deal N95 for a 12 hour shift. Please don't let her hear you b**ching about wearing one to Costco to get your 5 lb bucket of pork rinds! It makes her mental hearing the whining about wearing a cloth one for a small amount of time. And quite frankly a face covering would improve the looks of a lot of our fellow Americans walking around!!
