The much-anticipated serological data that’s finally rolling in reveals that the number of actual Covid-19 cases could be 10 times more than the number of confirmed cases. While this suggests the fatality rate is lower than previously thought, it also means it's more contagious. As infectious disease experts will point out, even a seemingly low overall mortality rate can translate into a shockingly large death toll if the virus spreads through a major portion of the population. If this virus gets into the wrong population (i.e. nursing homes or long term care centers) it has proven to be devastating and deadly. Many of those facilities have had 50-60% of their residents killed if the virus infects someone inside the facility. This is the worst pandemic since 1918, and people should be cautious about underselling how deadly or dangerous this pathogen can be.

Thank you for the info. You obviously know this well. Do you think we should stay locked down? Or do you think we over protect the people susceptible to possibly dying from this? Do you think the country can sustain the continued high unemployment without causing a bigger impact on mental health and loss of peoples future retirement? Also in nursing homes I would think the yearly death rate is much higher already than the general public, correct? Not to sound insensitive, but do we sacrifice everyone else for minuscule of the population? Even if 200,000 people in the US ended up dying, which is still horrible, that still would only account for .06% of the US population. And this thing is not going to just go away. So at some point you have to weigh what is best for 327 million people as a whole.

Apparently the virus can be spread thru the a/c system. Settle down to a nice meal at a restaurant being showered by droplets.
