Asking that people where a cloth mask in public places seems like a completely reasonable measure that is pretty universally regarded to help prevent the spread of viruses. Just wear the goddamn masks so we can start getting back to normal.

Edit: Also there is plenty of proof that masks (even simple cloth masks) play a role in helping to reduce transmission of disease. Saying 'show me the proof' is like saying 'show me the proof the earth is round'. It's universally accepted science. I know that we all aren't big on science all of a sudden (which I don't think will age well), but this is basic medical protocol and has been for 100+ years.

First of all: I'm sure you can find individuals that disagree with science. Some of them will even be Doctors.

Getting past that: Did you even read the article? It's rife with exceptions including (1) if you think you might have COVID (2) if you are caring for someone with COVID. It also seems to generally focus on wearing medical N95 respirator masks to prevent oneself from getting COVID, not wearing cloth masks to prevent transmission to others. So masks might not work, but go ahead and wear one if you think you might have COVID or will come into contact with someone who has COVID.

The article is also dated Feb 29th and begins with a caveat. In February the medical community was still very much in 'Don't wear masks unless you are a medical professional because we don't have enough of them' mode.

Seems like a pretty clear strawman, to me.

Above the article (dated February 29) there's a link to an updated article that recommending the general public wear masks to protect others if you are contagious.

This is a great example of where we all (including me - this is not directed at Juice but is a general statement) need to remain open-minded and stay abreast of new learnings and information. How we protect ourselves, the virus' transmission rates,
fatality rates, how it spreads - what we knew a month ago is very different from what we know now.

If you’re contagious... unless you’re symptomatic, no one things they’re contagious.

Masks don't bother me. Wear 'em, everywhere.

Killing our economy with overreaction lockdowns based upon false data models does.

Let's get to the real issue. "More testing needed" is a boolsheet excuse to keep people from earning a living.

Again not doing the opposite of what I am told. Masks are fine if you want them but if you are not washing your hands and wiping down surfaces, that is a much bigger issue. I think its funny that people walk around with masks, but go to the store and touch everything on the shelf with no gloves on. I think you are much more likely to get the disease by hand to mouth than if you are not out wearing a mask. So I agree with keeping your distance, disinfecting everything, frequently washing your hands and staying home if you do not feel well, or have a fever. But yeah I do the opposite of everything I am told, because I don't think people should be forced to wear masks, because one reason, well science says it doesn't really have proof that it helps. My problem is that masks get dirty and peoples hands get dirty, so if you are not frequently disposing them, they can become a germ haven.

You can place inserts in your cloth masks, that will increase the amount of microns it can filter, and improve the performance. If you use fabric with a high thread count, and it will increase the levels to filter over 70% of the microns and germie germs (N95 masks filter 95%).

You might want to rethink that statement. Maybe insert the word "not" in front of the word "contagious".

Which is why you just wear the mask in public settings. You don’t KNOW if you have it or not, so do the responsible thing. Why is that so hard? I wear a mask at the grocery store out of respect for the people who work there. They deserve that. I’d guess 80-90% of the people in the store yesterday had a mask on. There was no government mandate to do so, it’s just the right thing to do.
