My kids are still kids and doing what they can to stay active. My college son to stay in shape works out regularly with a group of other kids who need to do the same as they need to stay prepared. They also hang out together at night at someone’s house. Not sure why I wouldn’t let them continue to be kids. They are all healthy as are their families as far as I know. The other parents seem ok with it as well. I also live in KY and it’s not New York. My kids are not going to go hang with my mom anytime soon though. As for pools I am fine with that too. Teenagers have very little risk with this thing.

Golf is a relatively simple game, played by reasonably intelligent people, stupidly.

Harvard says social distancing may need to last until 2022.

These ER doctors say that there is no need for it at all anymore.

These are urgent care doctors (and entrepreneurs which is important) that are seeing their numbers and income decimated. There is some credence to what they are saying but there are some fallouts. Again the urgent care doctor compared this to the flu. Anyone who has worked directly in an intensive care setting with these patients will tell you without hesitation it’s disease course is far more serious than the flu. It’s easy to make that comparison but anyone that does is using it to validate an opinion or has ulterior motives. One quick look at NYC shows this is not the flu.
Lastly they are applying their sample of tests to the general population. As a sample size itself it is large enough, however their sample is not random, it is symptomatic urgent care patients. So I don’t want to assume these doctors are looking for publicity but they did go on the news and made sure their brand was known.

Everyone is frustrated and wants to get back to normal. There is not a good solution other than slowly open it up and have everyone practice good hygiene.

We are in New Jersey so our situation is a little different than many/most of the posters on this board, I would gather. I'm fortunate that my 3 boys are all very close in age, so while they do miss school and miss their friends, they have a play group within the family. At 6 and 4 they also don't really understand social distancing and health precautions very well.

I'm hoping that by Memorial day our neighborhood pool can open and we can start resuming more regular social interactions including having the kids play with some friends, ideally assuming that their families are taking similar precautions.

I thought those guys seemed pretty clearly biased and kind of douchey. They also kept referencing their 'data' without going into much detail about it, other than that it contradicted virtually all other (larger sample size) data we have thus far around COVID-19. They didn't share specifics and had some talking points that seemed inaccurate based on what we know, without much analytical support.

They also went into a little spiel about 'this being about control' which is where my spidey sense really kicked into gear. I think that the CDC can definitely be wrong about this. They are almost certainly being extremely cautious. I don't think they have some sort of master plan to 'control' people though. They are epidemiologists who are providing recommendations to stop the spread of a disease.

WAPO Article about US Death Rate

EDIT: Here is an interesting article that directly contradicts these Doctors' claim that we are overstating COVID deaths and would suggest we are understating COVID-19 deaths. Death rate remains a question mark due to testing.

    Taps Mike “Is this On?”......

    Today’s Reality Check for Ohio:
Model Projection of new Cases per Day (Mitigated) 2,000 on April 17. (Projected Today 4/26 shows 1,301 per OSU model)
    1. Today's Actual new reported Cases: 362 - Down 14 from yesterday’s new of 376
Highest Daily Total Increase in cases since report began on 3/9: 1380 last Monday 4/20 with 56 probable/assumed- A LOT from the Marion County prison. Never anywhere NEAR the projected peak. NEVER
    2. Actual TOTAL Hospitalizations: 3,232 (up only 54from yesterday and 8 less than day before) since reporting began over a month ago.
Where are the Marion County cases that were supposed to swamp after all that Testing over a week ago?
    3. Actual TOTAL ICU admits: 978 since reporting began a month and a half ago (up only 26 from yesterday.)
Where are the Marion County cases that were supposed to swamp after Testing??
    4. New Deaths today: 25 to 753 total.
    Total Ohio Hospital Beds: 34,000
    Total Ohio ICU Beds:2500
    Ohio Population; 11.7 million

The models still suck, the testing is allegedly up (resulting in empty numbers) and the cases keep going down as do Hospitalizations & ICU numbers of admissions, yet this governor refuses to acknowledge the realities on the ground and is keeping retail, restaurants, gyms and salons closed for at least another two weeks.
We have now entered an alternative reality in Ohio, where over-caution and mind melding with Amy Acton have taken over common sense. I am sick of DeWine’s weak gravelly voice and Acton’s overly solicitous comments. DeWine acts like that there are no consequences for keeping these places closed. Welp,
I guess when he decides to “throw the doors open” and, uh, the doors don’t open, then he’ll pay the price. And there are gonna be a lot of places that won’t open.
I hope Dana Gardens isn’t one of them.

Is DeWine really saying that he is definitely going to keep Ohio closed for another 2 weeks? With those numbers I would expect some things to open sooner. Maybe not Gyms and Salons but non-essential retail and business (with some guidelines and precautions).

DeWine has said that restaurants, bars, salons, and gyms, at minimum cannot reopen until at least May 18. He is absolutely screwing the small businessman and restaurantuers like Michael Symon and our own 94Grad. This has become ridiculous. A lot of these one shop retailers and food purveyors will never reopen. At this point the state is screwing itself over faulty data and they refuse to walk it back.
