I absolutely hate it. I did it at my last job, and absolutely hated it, and I thought I had gotten away from it up until a month or so ago. I can't stand working from home...I get distracted way too easily, and I miss the social aspect of being in an office. I'm in outside sales, so not being able to meet with people face to face is driving me insane. I have the utmost respect for inside sales people, being chained to a desk is not for me.

Accepts what BS? What exactly do you think is going on? Why would they artificially inflate their fatality count? Unfortunately you can't begin to test everyone suspected of having the virus because we don't have enough tests, and they have been saying for a couple of weeks now that the death count is likely understated.
New York is in some shit right now. They don't have enough room for the bodies of the people who are dying. That is not something that typically happens. I get that there is some fantasy that a group of people are choosing to engage in about this all being a hoax or something, but it seems pretty real for NYC. Do you think that the largest city in the country just voluntarily shut itself down over nothing? Why? To what end?Eat Donuts!

My understanding is this is what they did with H1N1 as well and how the estimate influenza deaths in general as well. Argue the validity doing it that way but from what I’ve read they do it that way for everything.
And there is no doubt deaths are underreported. The testing kits remain limited. They aren’t testing people who die in their homes or nursing homes or hospital before tested etc. would be a waste of valuable resources."I’m willing to sacrifice everything for this team. I’m going to dive for every loose ball, close out harder on every shot, block out for every rebound. I’m going to play harder than I’ve ever played. And I need you all to follow me." -MB '17

You know that the picture posted with that claim was actually for unclaimed bodies that they normally bury in those "pits" unrelated to Corona right?
Why is any state or city doing the things they're doing? They all got scared. It turned out to be serious but way less serious that the experts said. Now they have to cover their asses so they're inflating the numbers.

For apparently the first time in history, a president's name will appear on an IRS check.
The stimulus payments in check form, are being held up a couple of days so his name can go on them.
What an absolute baby....he went up late, and I was already up there.

If you are really interested in the numbers surrounding the virus, I would suggest these two short articles.
They address the amount of deaths above a year to year statistical average, and how the current totals are compared to those numbers.
With examples, including New York.

I wonder how those daily totals of normal death rates would compare in states like Ohio, Indiana and KY where we have only seen around 800 or so deaths combined since this thing started? This is a much bigger issue in New York than it is for about 98% of the rest of the country. I Still think it’s dumb that the country is shut down and will be for a long time to come. Even when it gets opened a little, it will still be shut down. Social distancing will continue and business will continue to suffer. The fall out from this will be much worse than the virus itself.
A Harvard study I saw today suggests social distancing will have to continue until at least 2022 when a vaccine may be available. If that’s true, I can’t see how sports will be played at all. Great for Netflix and Zoom stock I guess. Can the government really carry 100 million people financially for the next two years? What will insurance rates look like? How much will taxes have to be raised on everything to pay for all of this? I think the longer this thing goes, the more screwed we all are.

The only thing that should matter is to count consistently with other diseases. The weird part is the city making the decision on what to count. Shouldn't it be the CDC? or WHO? Or be based on some scientific standard? I have no clue what is the 'right' way, but I find it weird that city's health department is making that decision.

FWIW, my wife is working at home which is a strange situation for both of us. Her boss in Manhattan left for their second home, but as they have their virtual conferences all day long with the remaining NYC employee/residents, it’s been VERY noticeable and frequently commented on how many MORE than usual sirens are heard in the background during the calls. Freaks out even the locals.
I agree they totally overstate the situation for ratings and attention, like any natural disaster. I also pray this starts declining in the days ahead.Last edited by xu82; 04-14-2020 at 11:39 PM.
