Snow is usually very accurate. He picked Niels Lane to come to X, and I am under the impression that would have happened had not Jones committed. Jones was the priority. Nice position to be in when you're choosing between two 4 stars.

This is apparently true. They really wanted Jones despite the ranking being a bit lower.

X is said to be in great position for Carlson.

Apparently Colby will be moving up a decent amount in the next update

Listened to D and V podcast . The 3 guys talked a lot about this 2019-20 recruiting class and said 2014 class was the best with Bluiett, Macura, Sumner, O'Mara and a top 100 guy whose name is not on my list. They mentioned Odom is the best of this class BUT he is no "Bluiett".

If X does not get Carlson or the other 6'7 post guy visiting soon, they believe Steele will bank on a grad transfer.

Yeah, they were making a speculative comparison with the 2020-21 class to the 2014 guys but but no mention of how they would compare them to this years freshman. A 2000 pt scorer in this group is highly unlikely (as with the 2020 guys as well), so probably no Trevon but definitely see JP numbers for several of them. When all is said and done both of Steele’s classes should easily challenge 2014.

I was surprised to hear no real concern about needing more LEGIT size at the 5. Obviously we’re pretty set with 6’9” type guys but the BEast is/will be loaded with much more height/length. They joke that the more weight Jones looses, the shorter he gets....looks 6’5”in braids. Granted, Tyrique takes a back set to no one regardless, but can’t see Carter being effective in the post against Yurt7 or even Smits for that matter. A developed Miles is more in line with what’s needed but it looks like a true 5 transfer is likely for team 99.

Assuming we land Ben Carlson we will have 5 players over 6'8 to play the 4 and 5 respectively. The game has been moving that way for over 10 years now. Who was Villanova's 7 foot center when they won two national championships? Virginia had one 6'11 guy, but positional size elsewhere. You don't need a fleet of 7 footers to win.

Speaking only of BEast play as it is CURRENTLY rostered this year and next with some match up concerns in the post. Nothing that athletism and shooting can't over come but I can think of several BE teams that have a noticeable advantage in that one key area. Just would be nice to match height/length, when needed, if exposed in conference play. Outside of the BEast and in the dance is usually a different situation.

However, this line of discussion is a good chance to point out an observation. Not to be Capt Obvious here but Coach Steele has already established a pattern with his recruiting. Of the 8 HS guys so far, Tandy comes in the shortest at 6'1". Odom is a true PG but has real good size and is physically imposing already. All the others have enough size to cover multiple positions.....some versatile enough to play both front and back court. The 2 other likely targets fit that description as well. So, from the outside looking in, it appears that Coach has a very well conceived system in mind. Something like the Nova template that you mentioned.

This is the point. Xavier wants to switch 1-5 on defense just like Nova. Not a lot of 6'11 or 7' guys have the agility and foot speed to do this.

No argument here. Again it's just the the league has added a ridiculous amount of the real tall timber....very unusual for the conference landscape to change that drastically in 1 off season. Because of that, there's a concern that we may see a few more "@ SHU last year" situations, where Gill's size altered the outcome.
