The battle for first in the Big East gets underway at 3pm today. Here's a kind of daunting stat I saw in the Xavier pregame notes: CU has yet to drop a weekend series in BIG EAST play during its three seasons as a conference member.

We lose. 4-2.

Need to win the last two for a shot at the Big East regular season title, but X's spot in the Big East Tournament is pretty safe no matter what happens this weekend.

Nice. I saw it was 3-0 early and kind of forgot about it. Thought it just wasn't going to be X's day. A win tomorrow, and Xavier has the inside track to win its first regular season title that I can remember.

X was down 4-0, just tied it 4-4 in the 8th.

And walked it off in the 9th! First Creighton series loss in the Big East ever. Xavier is poised to be the #1 seed in Aberdeen. Last place Villanova comes to Cincinnati next weekend.
