Personally, I really enjoyed the podcast. Not necessarily because of Miller (though he did provide an insight here and there regarding what was going on with the team and what they were trying to accomplish) but more due to the guests that were on whether it be from this past year's team or guys from years gone by.

I am to going to hate on Miller. He didn't exactly what I was hoping he would in his second stint, but he did make us relevant again after those horrid Steele years. If we didn't grab a decent coach after Steele and went outside our group of coaches, we could have sunk to the bottom of the BE table. As is, Miller won some tourney games and we grabbed Pitino in his 40s who has hopefully learned from his mistakes at Minnesota.

I don’t see how you could look at his second stint as anything but a major disappointment. He had an excuse year 2 but was awful last year. He “put us on the tracks” in year 1 and then drove us right off again.
In no way do I think we are further along to where X fans expect to be and viewed as today than the day he came back. In large part due to NIL/Transfer but make no mistake, he is leaving X worse off than when he got here. The only possible way it’s better is if him leaving sparked something in high donors that the NIL fund needs to be higher in order to compete.
I don’t think he made X relevant again, as you say. At least in the way I see it. Following up one of the worst years in recent memory with a play in game win isn’t relevant the way I’d want to be. It’s barely better than SteeleLast edited by Xavier; 06-04-2025 at 10:44 PM.

That is a little rough, Steele drove the car right off of a cliff. Miller got us to two NCAA tourneys with a S16. Yes he had a turd year that was his fault for not recruiting players to cover injuries. We have had three tourney wins in three years. All Steele ever gave us in four was an NIT title after getting fired. By relevant, I mean we compete in the league consistently and make the tourney. Appearances in the second weekends would be great as well, but you have to walk before you run.
Miller's recruiting screamed "The Boy at the Dike". Miller knew he could coach and figured he could get near any team to overachieve enough to get a more coveted offer. He identified roster gaps and plugged holes with whatever he could get. He didn't have much of a plan that resembled any kind of "future". He was only about now. In a way, he and Texas are a perfect match. He is thinking only about now and so is their Athletic Department. This is why he is already on narrative control. He knows his exact situation and how it's potentially temporary. The way Miller is combined with the way Texas is, I give it 2-3 years before he is either hyper-successful or out of coaching entirely.

Something tells me he'll have a hard time in the SEC considering Xavier barely beat a pair of teams that finished 14th and 16th in the SEC, respectively.

Had a conversation with some buddies the other day. At this point would you rather see Sean miss the tournament the next 3 years or UC. To me it’s obviously Sean.
