Westboro Baptist was out there protesting funerals of soldiers with signs that said "God Hates Fags", and THEY made money suing people who assaulted THEM.

Maybe we need to rethink some of this then. Not exactly something to be proud of in our country.

I understand you have to have a threat of violence. Maybe we should rethink some of that.

Why? Free speech is one thing. Do you think the things you mentioned are a representation of what the writers of the constitution had in mind? Protecting free speech is one thing, what you described with nazi marches and the Baptist church to me is another. I understand setting a precedent can lead to another and so on, but have we as a country gone too far the other way.

How so? I didn’t see the piece, but did read about it and from what I read, it sounds great in practice. Of course I can see it being weaponizd by our genius politicians. Need more of it if it would be used properly.people really don’t understand what free speech actually means.
