Marquette announced today Kolek will be out the final 2 games, and re evaluated for the BE Tournament. Certainly helps our chances of an upset.

Without Kolek, Senior Day at home...Honestly, even though this isn't a great X team...maybe not even a good X team, I expect them to win.

Tiniest of chances just got a little more likely for X to win at Butler, Marquette, and 2 BE tourney wins.

Double edge sword here. Should increase our chances of winning, but may dilute the quality of a win.

Would be nice to get to the 7 seed.

It does but does that matter?
1. We aren't getting an at large bid, so the quality doesn't matter at this point.
2. It still counts as a Quad 1 win, there isn't an asterisk that goes next to it. If we were in at large consideration, maybe the committee would mention that but not sure it would weigh super heavily. Could be wrong tho.
At this point it would be great to win, just to get out of the 8/9 game for a slightly better shot at a miracle BE run."I知 willing to sacrifice everything for this team. I知 going to dive for every loose ball, close out harder on every shot, block out for every rebound. I知 going to play harder than I致e ever played. And I need you all to follow me." -MB '17

Meh. I’m not ready to say that. If they win out until conference finals I think there’s a chance they sneak in. Still wouldn’t bet on it but would watch with some hope. A few scenarios, according to Bart Tovik. Beating Butler/Marquette- finish as the 6 seed and beat DP/Creighton and losing to Marquette in semis would be around 88% of an at large bid. Seems more optimistic than what I’d say, especially bc I think committee doesn’t put much weight on conference tournament. Maybe they do moreso with cut line but doubtful.

If we go 2-0 we would play Marquette in the quarters. Creighton would be the 2 seed in that situation, unless Marquette pulls out a short handed win against UConn which doesn't seem likely.
And yeah, I would say making it to the finals unscathed from here on out would give us a shot, for sure, how good I am not sure but we would pick up 4 more Q1 wins.
I guess I don't see that as very realistic which is why I was dismissing our at large chances."I知 willing to sacrifice everything for this team. I知 going to dive for every loose ball, close out harder on every shot, block out for every rebound. I知 going to play harder than I致e ever played. And I need you all to follow me." -MB '17

I dunno… I watched their game this past weekend at Creighton, and they still looked pretty Damm good— without Kolek. It would be nice to have a signature win, although I agree the at-large ship has sailed. I guess it will help seeding after we win the BET. ;)
