Ah interesting ok, appreciate the insight. Makes me start questioning if someone from big East or heck even Cooley himself said something to Fanta, and Fanta squirmed and said I was duped, not my fault. I’d hope he has a little bit more of a spine than that, but who knows.

Having Fanta in the doc does lend it some credibility as he is more or less the media hype man of the Big East. So I am sure the Big East office wasn't to happy to find out he was featured.
You would think someone like Goodman would have the slightest bit of media training to understand the Streisand Effect. Hardly anyone saw this thing prior to him making it a controversy."If our season was based on A-10 awards, there’d be a lot of empty space up in the rafters of the Cintas Center." - Chris Mack

I find this whole thing to be too ridiculous to be real.
For starters, the documentary is broadcast worthy. This isn't some random fan. This person has to work in film or TV. It's just too well made. So, he's SOMEONE in media and/or entertainment.
Being that it has to be someone in the media, how can John Fanta and Jeff Goodman NOT know who it is?? Fanta was in the freakin' thing!! He's GOT to know who it is!! Goodman's DM's saying he's going to find him and expose him?? Those CAN'T be genuine!! How could he POSSIBLY not already know who it is when Fanta was just prominently featured in the damn thing??
Another red flag...
Jeff Goodman may be dumb, but he can't possibly be THAT dumb!! He works in the media himself. He HAS to know what does and does not constitute defamation. NOTHING in this video COMES CLOSE to it!! Even the statements about Cooley possibly having an affair were more than properly conveyed as being speculative rumors among the fans. The qualification of it being speculative rumor was so distinct, that it's another sign that the guy who made this movie has to work in either film or TV. And even if it did constitute defamation, which it didn't, Goodman has to be smart enough to know that it's a civil matter and not a criminal matter!! Telling him he's going to be sued AND end up in jail!!?? That's too stupid to be real.
So, my theory is that this is all a work. It's GOT to be!!! They have to know who it is, and they have to know what the actual laws are better than what they showed. I can't help but think this is all staged. They may be friends with the filmmaker and staged this whole thing as a way to get the movie over. I call BS!! This can't be real!! Not even Jeff Goodman is THIS stupid!!!Last edited by xubrew; 01-31-2024 at 11:24 AM.

Who would have an affair with Ed Cooley? It's not like he is Bobby Petrino...

I read a bit of the Georgetown board's thoughts on Divine Providence. Oddly, their persepective on it is quite different than the other 10 Big East fan bases (to the extent any portion of those other fan bases care).
