Know what the answer is? Vote for better candidates.
Everybody is primaried now. You don’t have to be beholden to a party. You can vote on either side.
I’m registered Independent so can pick the primary I want, and I do. This is totally in the electorate’s control, but I fear the decline in our educational system is the true “Threat to Democracy.”

What Mor doesn’t understand per usual for him, is that not every state is set up that way. He thinks Ohio pertains to the rest of the country.

What VILLE doesn't understand is that MOR was making a point that people need to be more educated on the process and not just go in on the final day and pull the R or D lever. There are layers to the process, and an informed and concerned electorate is important no matter what your particular affiliation and electoral mechanism.

that was one point...this was the other:

In ohio, sure that's true. In other parts of the country, it's not. "Being educated on the process" should coincide with understanding that just because its available in Ohio doesn't mean its available everywhere. His point is completely moot in other areas of the country

In Kentucky for instance, I can't vote in either primary.

I'm liking the jungle primary concept, personally. You might end up with D on D or R on R action in the general, but you'd expect the concept to favor somewhat more moderate candidates.

Being a registered Independent in Kentucky, I'm not allowed to vote in either D or R's primaries.

Is that why you have a Democrat Governor and a Republican Legislature? ;-)

I have Republican friends registered as D's so they have a voice on whom the R's go against!

It also helped that Matt Bevin was a complete moron as Governor in Kentucky.

Hell, Beshear might have the highest approval ratings of a governor that LOSES reelection in 2023 should Daniel Cameron win the Republican primary.
