Cameron Smith on the move as well.
I think the majors are going to find a way to keep the LIV guys in their events. The more of them go, the more they sort of need to find a solution to make sure their events are true championships. Plus, it's going to be some actual rivaly with guys who really hate each other playing. Good for ratings.

Call me old school or old fashioned, but "heated rivalries" have no place in golf. It isn't NASCAR or WWE. Jack never hated his opponents nor they him. Strong, intense competition, but without the theatrics.
So, sorry, but they may as well "tat up" while they're at it and pump out some rap videos about driving the ball 400 yards.X A V I E R

That's fine, but these sorts of soap operas drive interest, which drive ratings. If there's money to be made on that, the majors are going to cash in (with the possible exception of the Masters; they do whatever the fuck they want, and we like it).

Maybe when there are really good players on the liv tour outside of maybe two, that kind of thing can happen… until then, no one is going to care enough to not outlaw the liv players. Even Cameron smith, who is in his prime , and has won a major doesn’t move the needle

I guess your perspective of who is good at golf by tour standards is different than mine. No way there are 16, most of the guys are way passed their prime, some of them never had a prime
Oh and btw no Kokrak didn’t… a lawyer just admitted that winnings are going toward paying back their contracts. All I know is I would t want to be am employee of the Saudi governmentLast edited by Xville; 08-10-2022 at 06:27 PM.

On the other hand, what would happen if someone else out there tried to start a third tour that wasn't affiliated with a government like Saudi Arabia? I'm sure they'll just follow MOR's advice and follow the money, damn the torpedoes!

Still trying to figure out what everyone's objection is to LIV. Is it really the Saudis ?
Would the opinion be the same or different if it was Warren Buffet or Rob Walton or Gates or Bezos funding this ?
Or is it just that it's different from what we're used to ?
I follow golf more than most but quite frankly, stripping off the majors, there may be about 10 PGA tourneys (including WGC events) or so that I'll even tune into for more than a few minutes.
So far, IMO, the LIV tourneys to date have interested me more than or the same as the PGA tourney they were opposite in terms of golfers I'd tune into watch.
Seriously, who are the golfers that move the needle in any significant way if Cam Smith doesn't or more so than Mickelson, Koepka, DeChambeau, Dustin, Sergio ?
Tiger, then huge drop off to McIlroy, then big drop off to Thomas, Spieth, Rahm, anyone else ?Last edited by SM#24; 08-11-2022 at 11:35 AM.
