This article does a good job expressing how I feel about vaccinating children: cost = very low, benefit = very low. On balance, I'd probably prefer my kids get the vaccine, but I don't feel strongly enough about it to force them.

I wonder how people would feel if hospitals stopped treating unvaccinated COVID-19 patients? Despite the conspiracy theories out there, the people that I have spoken with in hospital administration state that COVID has hurt their finances quite a bit, mostly due to postponement of higher margin elective procedures. It's admittedly small sample size though.

To be clear: I'm not advocating for that, but if people are making a choice not to get the vaccine that could dramatically improve the situation couldn't a hospital make the choice not to treat those patients? How would we all feel about that? I would imagine not great...

    Yes, and hospitals stop treating...
    - Smokers for lung cancer.
    - Drinkers for cirrhosis.
    - Fat, lazy people for cardiovascular problems.
    - Those with poor diets for diabetes.
    - People who don't get routine colonoscopies for colon cancer.
    - People who don't wear enough sunscreen for skin cancer.
    - Athletes for sports injuries.

Life is all about choices and ramifications, you see.

If they want do, I guess they could. It wouldn't seem very fair to those people, but that again it also doesn't feel very fair to XVille's Dad, for example, who can't get his heart surgery because the hospitals are full of people who have chosen not to get vaccinated. Seems like their choices are not just affecting them, but others as well. Which is what happens when you live in a society with other people.

I'll be interested to see what happens now that (yay!) the Pfizer vax has FDA approval. I wonder if all the people who didn't want to get an 'experimental' vaccine will get the shot now?

XVille's dad probably smoked, ate too much meat, drank or didn't run 50 miles a week or some other such bad behavior to bring his heart troubles on himself.

Quelle surpriz since it's the #1 cause of death. Healthy people drop dead too.

And after doing a lengthy investigation into each potential patient's behaviors to rule out any self-induced reasons for their visit to the hospital, we can grant these "healthy" people the precious medical care they deserve. If they haven't died in the interim, of course.

Regarding the actual article...some I think is fair, other things I found odd.
You, 82 and your, "observations". That's about as passive/aggressive as it gets.

Your response about his business is beyond odd.

Agree on kid's vaccines and I'd sure like the gov't at all levels to stay out that choice for my family.
