Thread: Covid-19

Read more of Lou's post. Fellow X fans, I guess it comes down to the reality you believe in. Please talk to your local doctors and people you trust. I wish you all well, and hope your families stay safe.

I was around during the beginning of telnet communication, AOL, IRC, newsgroups, etc. Never, have I found this disinformation and propaganda so disturbing. Imagine if this was here during previous outbreaks.

    I'm done here.

    Proven Correct Once Again!

As we skeptics have been telling you all along, the number of reported cases is bogus, because the PCR tests are designed to detect any coronavirus. Thus, covid case numbers were being inflated because the PCR tests were actually finding seasonal flu viruses - remember how the seasonal flu numbers magically disappeared this past winter? Weird, right?

Well, now that the fear-mongers no longer have any use for inflating case numbers, the CDC has just announced that they will no longer use the PCR. From the CDC website:

"After December 31, 2021, CDC will withdraw the request to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of the CDC 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel, the assay first introduced in February 2020 for detection of SARS-CoV-2 only. CDC is providing this advance notice for clinical laboratories to have adequate time to select and implement one of the many FDA-authorized alternatives.

In preparation for this change, CDC recommends clinical laboratories and testing sites that have been using the CDC 2019-nCoV RT-PCR assay select and begin their transition to another FDA-authorized COVID-19 test. CDC encourages laboratories to consider adoption of a multiplexed method that can facilitate detection and differentiation of SARS-CoV-2 and influenza viruses. Such assays can facilitate continued testing for both influenza and SARS-CoV-2 and can save both time and resources as we head into influenza season. Laboratories and testing sites should validate and verify their selected assay within their facility before beginning clinical testing."

Yawn….everyone already knew that the numbers were inflated. So on the high side maybe 60k of the deaths were flu instead in us, and however many cases were flu instead…so, still a shit ton of cases and deaths. The obsession with this shows a serious mental illness.

My take a way is it’s important because we know the numbers and threat were inflated then why are we threatening the people with vaccine mandates, masks and potential lockdowns? Now that we’ve had time to think why would we repeat the same processes that were either useless or unnecessary/punitive to the lives and economic success of the citizenry. But that’s a convo for the House of Smack I guess..

Say it’s 17 million cases high and 60k deaths ( and this is high) difference. That just means its even more deadly than what we thought.

I do agree that lockdowns are and were ridiculous. If people just got vaccinated, we wouldn’t have to worry about this junk anymore, but anyways ready to move on.

It seems like there are two ways to read this: one is that the current test can only pick up covid whereas they want a test that can pick up and differentiate between Covid and the flu. The other is the way you’ve understood it, namely that the current test cannot differentiate between the two and so they want a test that can.

    Any thoughts?

Actually it’s not more deadly than we thought in late spring last year however it is very contagious (we think, but now the tests appear to have identified a lot of things as COVID). Could be wrong but we’re at around 70% vaccinated. Not bad considering it’s only been widely available for about three months.

I wonder if the media/politicians weren’t constantly talking about the vax rates and spooky variants if we’d even be talking about it. Guess it’s better to discuss than crime and the border crisis.

Well, I wasn’t referring to last spring, I was speaking to now in my hypothetical case.

I’m assuming your van number is based on aged 12+ which is probably right around there. And yeah I wouldn’t say that’s bad here in the us but it’s still not enough.

Media talks about crime and the border crisis every damn day too. The news will make anyone go batshit with all the negative out there.

I stopped worrying after my 2nd shot 6 months ago. Visited 12 states and counting. Wear a mask where and when required. It's not a big deal.

True points Ville esp with your starting point for the hypothesis. Don’t know if we’ll get to the u12 age group until the vax is fully approved. Things aren’t great all around for the news but a little, “nice job so far, now go crush Summer like ‘Mericans” would at least help us all. A little. Until we get offended and counter offended again in time next years election cycle. :)
