Would seem fair enough, but people who sent their kids to private school or didn't have kids would need their tax money back too but that would really hurt the public schools and probably in turn hurt your own property values and those of the houses in the community. So probably wouldn't be a good idea.

That’s taking it too far. What if one family has one or two kids, but the family next door has 8? Good education is valuable to an entire community, and you can’t do the math. Deal with it.
Our kids went to private schools, we paid school taxes. No complaints. Our kids are long past public school age, we pay with no complaints.
This reminds me of going out to dinner with people who want to argue about who had an appetizer, who had a salad or an extra glass of wine. GRRRR! Get separate checks or just split it down the damn middle!!!

I love the option of school choice! I wish we had better choices, but life is a series of choices. We all do the best we can.
The shots did me no harm, I’ll never know how much good they did, but I played along with them knowing it was FAR more likely to help than to hurt.

I get it, I think we are on the same page.
We paid our taxes when the kids were in private schools, and we pay taxes now long after they are out of school (though the younger son’s MBA is CRAZY expensive). I’ll pay for quality education and healthcare for people who need it. It has to become more efficient, but that is heading down a different wormhole.

Over the years it’s been estimated to be 60-70% to reach herd immunity. Now some say higher, so we really don’t know.
Other things we don’t know:
How many people have natural immunity at this point
How long will natural immunity last
Why the wide ranging experience people have had
Spread by droplets or aerosols How long the vaccine will last
Difference between 3 feet and 6 for social distancing
Can you transmit the virus after vaccinated Will we need a booster
Should we wear one or two masks
How much do masks help (and the other stuff we have debated ad nauseam).
Besides not knowing the length of effectiveness of the vaccine and natural immunity which makes sense, quite a lot of stuff we still don’t know even 15 months later.
Kinda makes you wonder how much can we really know about climate change if we do XYZ. Seems a lot more complex.
