It is officially in Ohio (3 cases announced today in Cuyahoga) and will soon be widespread everywhere. The economic impact is massive obviously. I am more concerned with the general “no big deal” approach we have seen that has slowed testing and treatments. I would expect the mortality rate to be lower in the US than China, but it is concerning that we really don’t have widespread testing available at this point.

Also not suggesting a massive panic or freak out is validated but the way this has been handled here has been a cluster f.
The first post in this thread. I guess it did deserve its own thread....

I'm not even saying that the stuff he linked to is wrong, just that twitter post doesn't necessarily equal fact.
That's because they're not wrong. Did you do the two minute fact check? Here's a link United States Coronavirus: 17,628,578 Cases and 317,929 Deaths - Worldometer (worldometers.info). Start with the northern plain states (Dakotas, MN, WI), and see when the positive tests started dropping. Then start working your way south, east and west, kind of in the pattern of... dare I say the jet stream?

I wouldn't post information on COVID-19 here I wasn't at least mostly if not fully confident it was correct, regardless if it fits my "agenda". My agenda, by the way is only to show the truth about COVID. If people were better informed of facts, better policy (yes, this is why COVID is actually political) would be made.

On another note, I'm struggling here. What on earth is so controversial about demonstrating findings about the seasonality of COVID-19? Please, someone tell me.

Cardinal Raymond Burke, one of the most powerful Catholics in the United States, gave a homily in which he savaged “secular forces” who want to “make us slaves to their godless and murderous agenda.”

“Then there is the mysterious Wuhan virus about whose nature and prevention the mass media daily give us conflicting information,” said Burke. “What is clear, however, is that it has been used by certain forces, inimical to families and to the freedom of nations, to advance their evil agenda. These forces tell us that we are now the subjects of the so-called ‘Great Reset,’ the ‘new normal,’ which is dictated to us by their manipulation of citizens and nations through ignorance and fear.”

Ok Lou- now do the Pope. What does he say about covid?

Also... what does this line mean: “ one of the most powerful Catholics in the United States.” ?

What kind of powers does he have? I think we may be talking about real wrath-of-God type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling. Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes. The dead rising from the grave. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together – mass hysteria!

There seems to be seasonality with covid but that’s not a surprise as it’s a respiratory virus. But interjecting that into the discussion of using Twitter as a source is a different discussion... I don’t think anyone debated seasonality. Just using Twitter to back any point whether it’s true or fake.

In all seriousness, not a fan of that cardinal at all for several reasons. For one, He's stuck in the 1950s and still thinks homosexuality is satan's work. While I sometimes think Pope Francis is a little too progressive, this guy is way too far conservative in his religious perspective for me.

It could only be worse if your pizza is delivered cold with the cheese stuck to the roof of the box! I’ll blame the Pope for that too!

I personally find life easier when I just ignore Lou and his links. I’ll trust solid sources like the CDC and the Mayo Clinic. Not so much Lou on the XU Hoops board and the links that fit his narrative.
