Anyone, on either side, showing up to a protest armed is an idiot, and likely is there to stir up shit rather than let their voice be heard. I hope they are all prosecuted.
What XU_lou is advocating isn't self defense. It is instead advocating for a mostly untrained group of armed vigilantes fueled by grievance politics on dark corners of the web to show up and increase tensions by introducing deadly weapons to the situation. This only makes the police and national guards' job more difficult and serves no real purpose other than letting these yahoos play army for the afternoon."If our season was based on A-10 awards, there’d be a lot of empty space up in the rafters of the Cintas Center." - Chris Mack

This !!! I am about 98% GOP, but where I part ways are their crazy stance on guns. The idea of going to a peaceful protest with a gun is nuts, and it's happened on both sides. As is the idea that everyone should go around 24/7, armed to the teeth. This is America in 2020, not Deadwood in the Wild West.

I could have sworn that I read somewhere that his mother drove him to the protest while knowing he had a gun, but now I cannot find that anywhere. I concede your point and admit that I was wrong. I still think the parenting could have been better, but it perhaps wasn't so bad that it's criminal.

I agree, I would never allow my 17 year old son, if I had one, to take a rifle into the middle of a riot regardless of whatever his intentions are.
But, sadly, so many kids today don't have a strong family structure. They're allowed to do whatever they want, whenever they want, with whoever they want.
I will say I think he had every right to defend his own life in that situation, and I think his lawyers have a really strong case.

Fuck, there's about a 100% chance I am going to hear about this fake video from my wife tonight after she sees it on Facebook.
