No it’s not. You see, seat belts keep people from flying around a car in an accident. And speed limits are so when people have accidents cars crush less. Just like masks keep droplets from flying around people, while closing businesses keeps droplets from forming. Except that the puppy was a dog. But the industry, my friends, that was a revolution!

So, then how do cases keep "surging", as the mainstream media explains every half hour for the last 2 months, when virtually the entire population has a mask mandate???
Also, how in the hell are there cases in New Zealand when the country has been in complete isolation for the last several months?
The answer my friends, is that mitigation efforts are futile.
Effectiveness of masks? I'll go with the science:

Cases aren’t surging, they’ve been declining steadily for over a month. Perhaps there will be a surge once all schools and colleges open? But for now, the mitigation efforts have been working.

No safety feature is 100% effective. However, when you use multiple safety features it increases the overall effectiveness.
So masks are not 100% effective. Placing social distancing restrictions on business is not 100% effective. But if you use a mask to limit droplet spread combined with reducing overall close contact between people, it increases the overall effectiveness of limit the virus spread.
Seat belts are not 100% effective. Placing restrictions on excessive speed on roadways is not 100% effective. But if you mandate seat belts and limit cars from driving at an excessive speed for the type of road way, it greatly increases the overall safety of the drivers."If our season was based on A-10 awards, there’d be a lot of empty space up in the rafters of the Cintas Center." - Chris Mack

1. I'm glad you're coming around to not believe the MSM, Lloyd!
2. I predict that because of schools and colleges are starting, reports will be rampant of asymptomatic cases resulting in thousands of asymptomatic cases that only show as false negatives. How scary would that be?!?
Seriously though, when you say "the mitigations are working", working to accomplish what, exactly? Yes, distancing, masks and shut downs are slowing spread. But remember the original goal of the shut down thing was ONLY to prevent unnecessary deaths from overwhelming our health care system. But now the goal seems to have become zero cases. That's not realistic.
So yes, the mitigations are slowing spread. But ultimately it's delaying the inevitable while causing substantial collateral suffering. To me, that's not working."...treat 'em with respect, or get out of the Gym!"

I have soon to be 4 year old twins and the whole mask/social distancing thing is a worry to me for their development. Are we as a society doing some harm mentally to our children with all of this, especially at this age when their brain develops the most. I really am fearful of this, me and the wife whatever we will be fine, but for them, I'm a bit scared.

I’ve never followed/consumed the MSM, so I cannot say that I have ever echoed what has been reported. When I say the mitigation efforts are working it was in response to XU_LOU stating that they were futile as cases were surging. So I was saying that cases are not surging and in fact declining for the last 4+ weeks as a direct result of the mitigation efforts- which includes masks, distancing, limiting large gatherings etc.
Obviously the end goal is zero cases, but I don’t think that’s possible without a vaccine, which should be here within 4-6 months. If we can continue to prevent major outbreaks we will get through this. Florida was at max capacity a couple weeks ago and overrun. They are still seeing deaths as a result of that, many of which were preventable.
So when you say it’s delaying the inevitable, I think you are focused on the wrong outcome. The inevitable outcome is an effective vaccine to eradicate this, assuming there is not a huge backlash on the vaccine.

For the crowd that doesn't think that civil liberties matter. This is happening in New Zealand, which I was told was a success story...
The Government will send all of the confirmed community cases of Covid-19 to a quarantine facility instead of allowing them to recover at home.He has the legal power to compel people into quarantine under Section 70 of the Health Act, which allows him to “require persons, places, buildings, ships, vehicles, aircraft, animals, or things to be isolated, quarantined, or disinfected as he thinks fit”.

I think that the idea of providing quarantine facilities in Hotels etc. is a good idea that could help stop spread within families. Open up Hotels with minimal nursing care as a quarantine location. I think several Asian countries are having success with that approach. Compelling people to go there is a step too far, IMO.
That's a great example of civil liberties that I think we all believe should not be infringed upon. Requiring that people wear masks is many degrees less severe and within the realm of what I (and many others) would consider reasonable.
