Has the Pac-12 canceled yet? I am sure the Begas powers that be are begging them to not cancel.

Yeah, so it does transmit basically exactly the same as the seasonal flu, they're both respiratory transmitted viruses. There's also a company (again I didn't follow up) that has a vaccine that covers 19 or 20 different strains of the seasonal flu, not sure what their progress is. The thing is Coronavirus isn't as common as the seasonal flu, so we kind of already have an immune response built up to the seasonal flu, but not really Coronavirus. That's also part of the problem, plus there's much more research done on Influenza than on Coronavirus. So it's the same, but different if that makes sense.
Ultimately, pandemics have been something that has happened numerous times throughout history, and there's bound to be another pandemic again. I think this one has been worse due to social media having such a prevalence, and a vast spreading of misinformation going on. If we look at what happened in the past, this will happen, hopefully anti-vax people realize how dumb it is not to vaccinate their children, vaccinate them, and basically we'll forget about it until the next pandemic breaks out. These things are a ticking time bomb, and though you can take steps to adequately prepare for it, we're never going to be 100% in control of it.

So I was in the camp of canceling sporting events, etc. is a gross over-reaction. This article changed my mind:
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2020/03/11/coronavirus-flattening-curve-quarantine-stop-spread/5021564002/
I had not considered the capacity of our health care system.
Canceling sucks, but it sucks less than having to choose who lives and dies.

If this thing had been called the corona flu (instead of VIRUS), would we all be in this position?
