So she visited nations to try and do her job and not do tourist things? Awesome!!!! All those relations are going so well, our Foreign Policy has been incredibly weak under Obama, thats just not my thought, check the poll numbers. Why do we want to get along with every country? A lot of these countries want to see our destruction. Putin is walking all over us. Mexico is encouraging their citizens to try and get inside here.

I'm sure you'll go toss some bush pot shots at this, and I don't really care, wasnt much in favor of what he did in some of his FP moves and that was 8 years ago.

I'm not happy about what's happening with Russia or Mexico either. Do you want to go to war with them also? Create some sort of situation where we have to infiltrate their leadership to run things as well?

These are not easy things. Obama didn't make those countries do the things they did. Don't blame him for their actions.

George W will go down in history as the most despicable president in US history. He's an idiot who lead us into situations that will be impossible to repair for decades.
Can't wait for election season to heat up again! Such great discourse. Congratulations on being well-traveled and also the self appointed authority on how the entire world felt about W. Have you ever considered that maybe...just maybe the people you met in all of your worldly travels might not exactly speak for all mankind? Maybe you hung out with a bunch of ill-informed douchebags. Maybe the news you watched was the Australian version of MadTV. I was in England last month and I had a few beers with an old-timer that thought Barak was a giant vagina. It's official...Europe hates Obama!

You despise W, and that's certainly your perogative but don't try to pass your vitriol off as anything more than it is.

All anyone can offer is their own perspective. So you knocking me just shows your own defensiveness. I'm use to conservatives wanting to discredit people with informed opinions.

So do you have a better explanation? Do you think Clinton's 112 country tour was not at all in need of repairing relationships? Was George W not to be faulted for the leaders in other countries not wanted to deal with us? Did the state department completely blunder in taking the temperature of all these relationships? What do think was really happening at that time?

It certainly wasn't all new foreign policy people working in these roles at the State house. There were a lot of folks with experience advising on what course of action to take. I'd say if it wasn't the case that Bush did more harm than good, then Clinton would have been working in fewer hot spots and more positive stories would have emerged.

From the Washington Post in 2006:

The annual survey, taken by the highly regarded German Marshall Fund of the United States, shows that 77 percent of Europeans disapprove of the way Bush has handled international affairs, as compared with 56 percent who felt that way in GMF's "Transatlantic Trends" survey in 2002.

From Pew Research Center in 2008:

Mounting discontent with U.S. foreign policy over the last eight years has translated into a concern about American power. In the view of much of the world, the United States has played the role of bully in the school yard, throwing its weight around with little regard for others’ interests.

However, Bush remains incredibly popular in Africa.

I'm not a Bush apologist but I really don't think arguing what Euros thought of him really helps your cause, because I'm fairly certain they don't hold our current President in high regard either.

This is a great post, especially the part about your opinions being "informed".

As far as foreign policy goes, what relationships did Bush screw up that Obama has mended? Russia? It's now worse. How about the rest of Eastern Europe? no.

Israel? Much worse. Middle East? Awful. Egypt? Venezuela? (I'd say that one is about the same). In fact, Obama's foreign policy is an absolute mess. The middle east is a mess. China is turning into a mess. Russia is a mess. This is what happens when you elect a left winger who has never held a real job in his entire life. His views "of how I wish the world was" don't work in the real world.

But the best part about your post is that if it weren't for Bush, Hillary would have been more successful. Good stuff.
