It definitely isn't a perfect strategy, but the strategy aside, Richmond just blew it. They foul up 3, Charlotte makes the front end of the 1 and 1, and on the rebound, Richmond's Williams just shoves a guy to the ground and gets T'd up. After the other 1 and 1 and the two technicals, Charlotte is up 1. At this point, the truly unthinkable happens, when Princeton grad Chris Mooney apparently thinks the refs screwed up by letting a different shooter shoot the techs (they did not, in fact) and he storms the court in a fist of rage at the refs, gets T'd up and ejected, and basically pisses away any chance his team had of winning. In the A10 tournament. Just unreal.

I might be wrong because I was laughing at Richmond's misfortune so hard, but I believe mooney got double t'd after the refs announced 3 free throws because it was a shooting foul with 2.8 left...I think the Charlotte player got 11 free throws in total at the end and made 8

Yea I think you're right about that. It was truly a clusterfuck of hilarity and ridiculousness. I can't even imagine how I'd feel if X had been on either side of that debacle.
