Perhaps it's because Tracy Jones resides there. "It is what it is."

I went to Arthurs on Friday. I ordered my burger medium rare, and it was at least medium well. It was still pretty juicy, but not how I ordered it. When our waitress asked if everything was ok, I pointed out that my burger was not done how I ordered it. It was still pretty good, so when she offered to replace it, I said that wasn't necessary.

At the end of the meal, they took off one of my beers. (They have the crooked tree IPA on tap, which was absolutely outstanding).

That's what I'm looking for. A place that acknowledges when something isn't quite right, and makes any kind of gesture to make it better.

I went to the Boathouse for dinner last night. Not my choice.

The place was packed. We had over half an hour wait for a table on a nothing-going-on-downtown Tuesday night. I really don't get it. The city should hire the Gregory's to open more stuff downtown, because whatever their formula is, it works and I have no idea why.

Two trips to El Jinete in the past three weeks. Tremendous. What Cincinnati doesn't have in Mexican food depth it makes up for in frontline talent. Nada for fusion, Jinete for Tex-Mex, Mercado for authentic central Mexican food, and El Toro for a change of pace.

I need to get up Route 4 to some of the Peruvian places. Need my lomo saltado fix.

It's like the theory of hiring a young coach. Hire someone who's young and has a family to support and doesn't have an established career. He'll work harder than someone who has an established career and a lot of cash in the bank.

I was at El Jinete last night. There was a table of Spanish speaking people next to me. Always a good sign at a Mexican place.

They have decent happy hour prices too.

It's been a while, a long while, but if you like Mexican it's worth a drive. Monmouth street in newport, used to be a combination mexican grocery and take out counter. They had a few tables but almost everyone got togo. probably around the 500 block or so of monmouth.
Everything was freshly made, nothing fancy just real real good. The thing that really impressed me was the refried beans, every time I went in they had a pot boiling on the stove so you knew they were damn near fresh, and really tasted like it.
Again, nothing fancy, just real mexican food

I have to agree with you. I've never understood the attraction. It's OK, but there are a number of places I'd choose first.

If you want a great Italian place, try Antonio's in West Chester / Liberty Township. It's at Cincinnati Dayton Road and SR -129.

    Ditto.

    It's frustrating when that happens.

I sometimes order burgers rare, expecting a medium rare to be served. That sort of works.
