And, do you think the CEO who makes a million works harder than the guys in the stockroom or the shop floor who make $20/hr?
What about the migrant worker picking lettuce in the California sun?
It's what your labor is worth to the company.
For that matter, does whomever the backup QB is make as much as Joe Burrow?

16 without football, 13 with football. 7 have to me men's sports.
At least...I THINK that's what it is. I used to know all this like the back of my hand, but it's been a while since I needed to know it.
That may sound like a lot, but if you have a team like cross country, you can count that as cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. If you have a men's and women's team, then you have six sports right there.Last edited by xubrew; 05-28-2024 at 11:11 AM.

Still, if there are minimums to maintain division 1 status, you just can't willy-nilly cut some teams so you don't have to pay them like football.
...he went up late, and I was already up there.

I mean, its their rule, right? They can change it to be whatever they want. This whole change to paying players will absolutely have considerable amount of fallout and some teams will get cut. Do you think it's in the NCAAs best interest to tell a school that they are no longer D1 because they only have 12 teams now? they dont want their membership to get smaller, right? They will amend the rules to allow the schools manage the number of teams they can reasonably support while not negatively impacting D1 membership.
I would not be shocked to see scholarships get reduced / removed in some cases. Instead of getting a 50K scholarship, a kid will get 50K cash as "salary" and then be expected to pay his own tuition. If they did this with mens sports, there would be fewer womens scholarships required and the school can cut the sport and the direct expense of paying the players.

Actually, I think they've been trying to do just that at the D1 level. There's more talk of INCREASING the number of both the teams that are required and increasing the transition period beyond four years to try and manage/discourage the number of schools that are moving up to D1. There are (I think) 364 D1 schools now. I think they would like it if about 50 of them moved back down to D2 or D3.

Even though the Final 2% is not directly related to the university, contributions to it now earn Musketeer Points. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Sent from my iPad using TapatalkGolf is a relatively simple game, played by reasonably intelligent people, stupidly.

$60 million seems to be a very large donation.
Was this negotiated? Might the donors want some ROI?
Could this be donations made to X over a 5-7 year window?
I am struggling to undertsand the reason for $60 million. Why not $45 million? Or $3 million each year for the next 20 years.

What's there to understand? Schools get donations like this all the time. The people are mega rich and they are giving some of it to their favorite school. It's not some schlub wanting to make sure he gets credit for his $100 to AFO. Places like Ivy's, and ND get donations like this every year from some well to do family.
