The plus-minus breakdown through January 22:

    XAVIER (+3) - W at Georgetown, W at St. John's, W at Villanova
Providence (+3) - W at Seton Hall, W at Butler, W at DePaul
    Marquette (+3) - W at Villanova, W at St. John's, W at Seton Hall
    Creighton (+1) - W at Butler
    UConn (0) - W at Butler, L vs. St. John's
    Villanova (0) - W at Georgetown, W at St. John's, L vs. Marquette, L vs. Xavier
Seton Hall (-1) - W at DePaul, L vs. Providence, L vs. Marquette
    St. John's (-2) - W at UConn, L vs. Xavier, L vs. Marquette, L vs. Villanova
Butler (-2) - W at Georgetown, L vs. UConn, L vs. Providence, L vs. Creighton
DePaul (-2) - L vs. Providence, L vs. Seton Hall
    Georgetown (-3) - L vs. Xavier, L vs. Butler, L vs. Villanova

I think Marquette now has the inside track for #1 with road games at Georgetown and DePaul still to come; Xavier can change that with one or two big roadkills this week. UConn did look fantastic today, but that was just as much a byproduct of Butler than it was UConn.

Xavier is hanging in, but it is close. Only 2 losses in January, hopefully no more than 2 in February!

That just might be enough for 1st place.

The plus-minus breakdown through January 29:

    XAVIER (+4) - W at Georgetown, W at St. John's, W at Villanova, W at UConn
Providence (+4) - W at Seton Hall, W at Butler, W at DePaul, W at Villanova
    Marquette (+4) - W at Villanova, W at St. John's, W at Seton Hall, W at DePaul
    Creighton (+1) - W at Butler
Seton Hall (0) - W at DePaul, W at Butler, L vs. Providence, L vs. Marquette
    UConn (-1) - W at Butler, L vs. St. John's, L vs. Xavier
    Villanova (-1) - W at Georgetown, W at St. John's, L vs. Marquette, L vs. Xavier, L vs. Providence
    St. John's (-2) - W at UConn, L vs. Xavier, L vs. Marquette, L vs. Villanova
Butler (-3) - W at Georgetown, L vs. UConn, L vs. Providence, L vs. Creighton, L vs. Seton Hall
DePaul (-3) - L vs. Providence, L vs. Seton Hall, L vs. Marquette
    Georgetown (-3) - L vs. Xavier, L vs. Butler, L vs. Villanova

Getting the UConn sweep was huge, but it will be just as vital this week to hold serve against Providence and St. John's. Do not want to be in a must-win situation at Providence late in the season.

Villanova could be a spoiler this week with trips to Marquette and Creighton, but I wouldn't hold my breath based on what I saw today.

The plus-minus breakdown through February 5:

    XAVIER (+4) - W at Georgetown, W at St. John's, W at Villanova, W at UConn
    Marquette (+4) - W at Villanova, W at St. John's, W at Seton Hall, W at DePaul
Providence (+4) - W at Seton Hall, W at Butler, W at DePaul, W at Villanova
    Creighton (+2) - W at Butler, W at Georgetown

    UConn (+1) - W at Butler, W at DePaul, W at Georgetown, L vs. St. John's, L vs. Xavier
    Villanova (-1) - W at Georgetown, W at St. John's, L vs. Marquette, L vs. Xavier, L vs. Providence
St. John's (-3) - W at UConn, L vs. Xavier, L vs. Marquette, L vs. Villanova, L vs. Seton Hall
Butler (-3) - W at Georgetown, L vs. UConn, L vs. Providence, L vs. Creighton, L vs. Seton Hall
DePaul (-4) - L vs. Providence, L vs. Seton Hall, L vs. Marquette, L vs. UConn
Georgetown (-5) - L vs. Xavier, L vs. Butler, L vs. Villanova, L vs. Creighton, L vs. UConn

UConn has the biggest week with a home game against Marquette and a roadie to Creighton to follow. Seton Hall could get closer to the NCAA bubble should they beat Creighton at home and potentially get a road win at Villanova.

Assuming UConn holds serve against Marquette, Xavier could take sole possession of 1st place with a Friday win at Butler.

Would LOVE a 2-0 week from UConn. But will be very satisfied with them just holding serve at home against Marquette.
