What Place Will Xavier End Up In The Big East 2022-23?

You've seen Xavier play. You've seen, heard or read about the other teams in the Big East. You've seen Sean Miller change the team dynamic.

So where do you think they'll finish?

Pick from the 1st to 11th.

I think anywhere from 2-5 is realistic. I think 3-4 is most likely. I will say 3rd.

Golf is a relatively simple game, played by reasonably intelligent people, stupidly.

    I went with 3rd.

But would not be surprised with anywhere from 2-6. Team can score but we have 3 glaring issues IMHO.

    1. Lack of physical/athletic post players
    2. At times our defense just doesn't care about defending
    3. Bench development has been virtually nil. Need 3-4 guys to step up and contribute consistently

I知 thinking at best 4th for the reasons you mentioned. Defense is brutal which will probably cost us a couple games we shouldn稚 lose along with our weakness in the post.. Would be nice to see Claude continue to grow so Baum can get most of the 2 minutes.

I agree with these. Although I would say we need 2-3 bench guys to step up consistently. A lot of the best teams don't typically go much deeper than 8 anyway. I think if Hunter and Claude can step up consistently off the bench X will be in good shape depth wise.

Occasional contributions from Miles, KyKy, and Craft would be a bonus.

CR8ON-my dark horse 1st place. They lost 2 tough road games in AZ and ASU by a bucket, and they feasted on roast road-kill Hawgs. They are good defenders. As much as I like Boum, they picked up Baylor Scheierman, Summit POY, in portal. I believe they are better-built to win BE.

UCONN-probably most will pick as 1st. A "dangerous" team. Looking at Fla. Gators, X beat them by 7 at home, UConn by 21 on road.

NOVA- They're back. Lost by a bucket at MI State after being down 10 at halftime. They playing well in Dec. beating Oklahoma and pounding Penn and BC.

XU or MARQ, MARQ or XU 4th and 5th. I think it could go either way. MARQ destroyed Baylor and played Purdue tough. That is as impressive as X beating WVa and 1st half UC.

BUTLER, HALL, PROV, ST.J, DEPAUL, GTOWN can battle for the lower tier.

Xavier played FL on neutral court. But yeah, I agree with your overall point that UConn beating them on the road by that much was more impressive than X beating them by only 7 on neutral court.

UCONN is top 6 nationally in both offensive (6th) and defensive (4th) efficiency. They have limited holes, are athletic, are physical, and can beat you in the paint and on the perimeter. IMO, they are significantly better than Creighton (who has lost 5 in a row and has holes) and a bona fide national title contender. They are without a doubt the BE front-runner.

They may be ranked 3 or 4 or whatever they are, but their metrics have them at #1.
