Time for a new thread, and many great years of basketball ahead! Miller is fortunate that the cupboard is not bare, IMO. We have work to do, but we have some talented players. Looking forward to the next rollercoaster of a season!

College Basketball Season 2022-2023
Probably my favorite thread each season!! It is my honor to be the one to start it this year!!
The season starts in 42 days! That means teams who are playing on that first day (which is about 98% of them) are allowed to start full practices TODAY!!!
This seems early. The 42 day rule has been a rule for as long as I can remember, but I also remember when Midnight Madness was actually the official start of practice, and it always occurred midway through October. We are starting the season earlier and earlier each year.
Anyway...
I have found one thing so far that I think is outstanding and that I am very excited to share with everyone because of how amazing it is!! Most of the time I hate it when D1 teams schedule non D1 opponents. I'm fine with it for exhibition games, but I hate it for regular season games. I also hate the (somewhat new) rule that allows teams to play up to four non D1 opponents, and think it should be reduced to either two, or zero. Preferably zero. But, having said that...
Troy has scheduled what is perhaps the greatest opponent I have ever seen!! Mark your calendars!!
On Thursday, November 10th, Troy is facing the Mississippi University for Women!! In a MEN'S college basketball game!!!

Actually I'm guessing it's similar to Converse College (now University) here in Spartanburg.
Historically an all women's school, with a graduate program that accepted men, recently it opened up undergraduate studies to males.
And, they added men's athletics to boost the enrollment.
Probably the same thing with the Mississippi school....he went up late, and I was already up there.

This is very likely what happened. But I almost don't want to know the story. I just love that they're playing the Mississippi University for Women in a men's basketball game.
And I am ABSOLUTELY rooting for the Mississippi University for Women in that game!! I may have to see if I can get a t-shirt or somethin for that one!!"You can't fix stupid." Ron White

So, my sources tell me (take that for what it's worth) that there are still 40 schools out there that have not yet completed their schedules. Practice starts today. The season starts in 42 teams. And the schedules aren't finished??
Too many schools are too picky and too particular of the kinds of games they want to schedule. They frequently pass up opportunities to play good games/series for various reasons, none of which are actually good reasons, and then end up with a shit schedule that needs to be filled out by playing multiple non D1 opponents. Said schools will then whine about no one will play them.
So we've got roughly 40 schools all complaining about how no one will play them. Geez! If only there was some sort of OBVIOUS solution to this problem!!"You can't fix stupid." Ron White

I didn't realize a new thread had already been started for this season. I guess we can delete the other one. Or somehow merge them.
