We've come a long way since my bench seat at the Fieldhouse!

i wish it was 20 years ago i would love to run a college court for $1000 for a weekend with players taking it easy on me. I remember people going to spring training to do something similar but never heard of it for basketball.

This is a pure money grab. No coach wants more alumni dipping into practices, locker rooms, staff meetings, recruiting visits, etc.
This is here because some people have a lot of money to spend and the basketball programs are happy to get more money.
.
It has probably always gone on to some degree. I know if I were a coach of a special team, I would be creeped out by a bunch of old men fans hanging out in the locker room or gabbing with my freshmen.
It is what it is.
