Then repeal it, I don't give a fuck what it takes, just stop mass shootings in this country. Is that too much to ask?

It is too much to ask. That's never going to happen.

Also, for all those running logic loops around why gun control won't work. Please read the original post again. There are dozens of countries with similarities to the US in everything but gun ownership. And guess what? Their grade schools are safe from psychopaths murdering children. I thank God I was born in this country, but there quite a few I wish I had been born in instead.
I’m referring to the title of the thread you started which is gun control. That’s political junk that can be discussed on the political thread.

You sir are the one who has taken a tragedy and turned it into a political debate. Just like our politicians love to do

Mods can you please move this thread to the political thread?

The second amendment doesn't mean that a ban on assault weapons is unconstitutional. We've had such a ban in the past in this county.

I never said it did. I wouldn't be arguing (as I did above) for something broader than a ban on assault weapons (as we define them today) if I thought it was unconstitutional.

My vote is for doing the opposite of what we are doing. What we are doing is not working.

A nuanced, but perhaps realistic view of where we find ourselves.
Maybe a product of the last few decades as pointed out by Heather Cox Richardson in an earlier link I posted.

Guns kill more people everyday in the inner cities, than all of these mass shootings combined. My guess is that most murders, caused by guns, are people that got the guns illegally. I am all for controlling what we can but do you think think gun control will stop people from getting guns? We have been trying to stop illegal drugs forever and they still get in this country. Heroin kills more people than guns do and we can’t stop it. I don’t own guns but bet I can buy one off the internet from some foreign country if I really wanted to.

“Politics” is a very broad topic. These shootings are a current, specific and timely topic. Why are you so offended? You don’t have to click and keep coming back.

The term “assault rifle” is much like pornography. I don’t care if it’s not on the “list”, you know it when you see it, and there is no reason for them to be available to the public.

    Malaria

In 2020, 627,000 people died of Malaria in the world. 95% of the cases were in Africa, and 96% of the total deaths which would be 601,920. Of this, 80% were children under the age of 5 which would account for 481,536 per year. That's per year.

Talk about preventable deaths. Talk about a tragedy occurring every single year.
