I kinda agree. Well unfortunately seems like everything we do is political - so yes broad. As for current, most things posted there are except for the ongoing Trump stuff. Some would say inflation, high gas prices, and surging crime around the country would be deemed current and relevant.

When Paul starts linking TPM articles, time to move thread. Not a slam on Paul because I would say the same if an article from the Daily Wire were posted.

Seems to have worked for five years and enjoy reading the differing opinions. Now if we started a thread about mental health, that is something I could get behind. But then again, who gives a crap on what I think…

While I agree with a lot of this, a lot of this backwards country doesn't think we should have healthcare available to everyone. Good luck at better programs for mental health.

These tragedies will continue to happen until these monsters are identified early and get the help they need. I bet this 18 year old had a history of run ins and was well known in the community as being a bad kid. Yet, nothing was ever done about it. Taking guns away will just make these monsters revert to other ways of killing such as creating homemade bombs.

A lot of people get free healthcare in this country, free food and free housing,
but they still refuse to take advantage of the free healthcare they get. So just because something is given to you, doesn’t mean you will take advantage of it. But I believe the insurance and pharmaceutical companies are the biggest problem, and they totally take advantage of everyone and that is allowed by our government. It’s all about power and money.

You want to take on gun control and mental health? You sound like that hard teacher I always tried to AVOID!

Seriously, some things you know need fixing, and these are two where it’s so daunting I’m not sure I’d know where to start.

EDIT: To be fair, I can see where it might eventually get merged with the politics thread, but then I’ll never see it again. I’m kind of interested to see where it goes for a while.

So, if it looks like something the military might use, it’s an “assault rifle”, but if it looks like something you might use to go deer hunting, its “just a rifle” and is ok?

If you’re going to ban something, it needs to be more clearly defined, like no magazine, the mag can only hold 8 rounds, etc.

I think that’s obviously true. I was referring to some earlier comments about this AR-15 (or whatever it was) NOT being on the assault rifle list. Well, if it does “assault rifle things”……….

90% 0f Americans support universal background checks but Congress can't give up their gun lobby money to bring it to a vote. "ghost guns' sales (illiegal in Denver) are a no brainer that should be shut down. And why can you avoid a background check by buying a gun from an unlicensed dealer at a gun show? Or I know, 'cause that's where the cartels do their buying.

There have been over 1000 murders in Chicago the past 18 months, most of it by handguns. My guess is most of the guns used were obtained illegally. Gun control won’t stop that, it will just increase and flood the black market. Will be seen as a good business opportunity by the mafia types.

I support universal background checks too. The dickhead in TX would have (presumably did) pass a background check. See, the problem is not background checks or guns, it’s dickheads.

So, why have these school shootings gone from unheard of to commonplace in 25 years?”. Where have all these dickheads come from? Why are dickheads using guns to kill innocent children? We’ve always had uninfringed right to bear arms. What has changed?

Now we can talk about a real solution.
